Each and every month, PlayStation Plus subscribers get access to several new games that are theirs to keep for as long as they’re signed up for the service, which retails for $59.99 per year. March saw Sony giving subscribers four games: Final Fantasy VII Remake, Remnant: From the Ashes, Maquette and Farpoint. Starting April 6, subscribers will get three more: Oddworld: Soulstorm, Days Gone and Zombie Army 4: Dead War.
Here’s what you need to know about Oddworld: Soulstorm, Days Gone and Zombie Army 4: Dead War.
Oddworld: Soulstorm
Developed by Oddworld Inhabitants, Oddworld: Soulstorm is the latest installment in the long-running franchise and will, according to Sony, only be available for PlayStation 5 owners. Like other games in the series, Soulstorm is a 2.5D platformer. Oddworld: Soulstorm continues the story of Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty! and sees players taking on the role of Abe.
At this time, there are no reviews for Oddworld: Soulstorm, as the game’s debut on PS Plus will coincide with its official release.
Days Gone
Developed by Bend Studio, 2019’s Days Gone is an open-world survival horror game/action adventure in which players take control of Deacon St. John. Set in Oregon following the apocalypse, John sets out on his motorcycle to find his wife, whom he had thought was dead.
The PlayStation 4 version of Days Gone has a 71 on Metacritic. While the open-world setting was generally praised, as were a lot of gameplay elements, Days Gone’s shooting system and main character were the subject of criticism. Reviewers also noted a lot of technical issues with Days Gone.
Zombie Army 4: Dead War
Made by Rebellion Developments, 2020’s Zombie Army 4: Dead War is part of the Sniper Elite series of games and sees players pick up their guns and fight against various abominations in the following the defeat of Adolf Hitler in the ’40s. The game is playable in single-player or co-op.
The PlayStation 4 version of Zombie Army 4: Dead War holds a 72 on Metacritic. While reviewers generally praised the game as fun, a lot noted that Zombie Army 4: Dead War isn’t particularly innovative and, at times, repetitive.
How Did PS Plus Subscribers Make Out In March?
For fans of platformers and the Oddworld franchise, April isn’t a particularly bad month — provided you own a notoriously hard to get PlayStation 5. Otherwise, Zombie Army 4: Dead War and Days Gone can be quite a lot of fun, though there’s nothing particularly special about either.
Final Fantasy VII Remake, Remnant: From the Ashes, Maquette, Farpoint and Destruction AllStars will be available until April 5. Oddworld: Soulstorm, Days Gone and Zombie Army 4: Dead War are available from April 6 until May 3.
