Psych 3 This is Gus Cast Character & Cameos Guide

Psych 3: This Is Gus features a number of familiar faces tied to the show’s eight-season run. Like the last two films, the third Psych reunion movie brought back all of the main cast members from the USA series. Plus, it was supported by guest appearances from some of the show’s recurring characters.

Similar to the second movie which released last year, Psych 3: This Is Gus is a Peacock exclusive that explores what the main characters have been up to since the show was canceled by USA in 2014. Following up on Psych 2: Lassie Come Home’s ending, the third movie deals primarily with the mystery surrounding Gus’ fiancé and her elusive husband, who must be found in order for Gus and Selene to get married. As per usual, Shan and Gus manage to get a small assortment of their old friends involved in one way or another with their antics as they carry out their investigation.

So far, every Psych movie has treated viewers to at least a few cameos from old fan-favorites. Psych: The Movie, for instance, provided roles for the deceased Mary Lightly (Jimmi Simpson), Nick Conforth (Ralph Macchio) and Ewan O’Hara (John Cena), and revived a forgotten villain in Allison Cowley (Mena Suvari). Psych 2: Lassie Come Home, on the other hand, had Kristy Swanson’s Marlowe in addition to another cameo from Mary Lightly. As for Shawn and Gus’ latest team-up, Psych 3: This Is Gus boasts its own important guest stars associated with USA’s Psych show, some of which being characters viewers haven’t seen in the company of Shawn and Gus in several years. Here are the characters included in the Psych 3 cast.

Psych 3: This is Gus Main Cast & Characters

Psych 3 This is Gus Cast Character & Cameos Guide

James Roday Rodriguez as Shawn Spencer – Psych 3 picks up where Psych 2 left off with Shawn, who finally married his long-time girlfriend, Juliet. Prior to Psych 2, the actor was billed as “James Roday” but now goes by his full legal name.

Dulé Hill as Burton “Gus” Guster – As the title suggests, Psych 3’s story is centered on Gus, who has to track down his fiancé’s estranged husband before the birth of their child.

Timothy Omundson as Carlton Lassiter – Psych 3: This Is Gus revisits Lassiter’s story from Psych 2. In a plot that mirrored Omundson’s real-life medical situation, Psych 2: Lassie Come Home revealed that the character suffered from a stroke offscreen which significantly set him back in a number of ways. Not unlike the actor himself, Lassiter is still in the recovery process.

Maggie Lawson as Juliet O’Hara – Juliet still has her position as the head detective of the San Francisco Police Department, which she’s had since Psych’s ending. Juliet actress Maggie Lawson recently starred in Fox’s one-season sitcom, Outmatched.

Kristen Nelson as Karen Vick – Also back for Psych 3 is Chief Karen Vick, who was a series regular for all eight seasons and played important roles in both of the previous reunion movies.

Corbin Bernsen as Henry Spencer – Shawn’s father is one of only two main characters in Psych – the other being Lassiter – who still resides in Santa Barbara. Bernsen was recently cast in L.A. Law, a remake of a series he starred in during the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Jazmyn Simon as Selene – Played by Dulé Hill’s real-life wife, Selene is credited in the intro with the rest of the main cast members, despite never having made an appearance in the show. Gus didn’t meet Selene until Psych: The Movie, but she’s been an important part of the characters’ inner circle ever since. It was confirmed in a twist at the end of the second movie that Selene is carrying Gus’ child. Before joining the Psych movies, Jazmyn Simon was known for her work on HBO’s Ballers (which also featured Dulé Hill).

Kurt Fuller as Woody the Coroner – Kurt Fuller’s Woody Strode, the wacky coroner and close friend of Shawn Spencer on Psych, has been a major ally to the main characters since he made his first appearance in a season 4 episode. Woody the Coroner factored heavily into the stories of Psych: The Movie and Psych 2: Lassie Come Home, but was dropped down to a cameo for Psych 3: This Is Gus.

Buzz Brocklebank as Buzz McNab – Buzz McNab, the innocent and unassuming SBPD police officer that idolized Lassiter, has come far since the pilot episode. Since the end of the series, Buzz has been working as a detective for the SBPD in Lassiter and Juliet’s absence. Buzz, who has been featured in more episodes than any other recurring Psych character, appeared in every single season of the USA series and also had cameos in both Psych movies. He has a similar role in Psych 3.

Curt Smith as himself – Curt Smith is the lead singer of Tears for Fears, a synth-pop band that spawned a number of hits in the 1980s, including “Shout” and “Everyone Wants to Rule the World”. The singer has cameoed on Psych three times, beginning with the season 5 episode that saw him meet Shawn. In Psych’s 100th episode, he was seemingly mauled by a panther. His fate has remained unconfirmed until Psych 3, as his next cameo – which came in season 8 – turned out to just be a hallucination.

Allen Maldonado as Alan Decker – First mentioned in Psych 2: Lassie Come Home, Alan Decker is a brand-new character for the Psych franchise, the missing husband of Selene, and the subject of the movie’s central mystery. He’s played by Allen Maldonado, who’s best known for portraying Curtis Miller Jr. on Black-ish, a role he’s held since 2015. The actor is also a series regular on Heels.

Ray Wise as Father Westley – Played by Twin Peaks actor Ray Wise, Father Peter Westley is the catholic priest that Shawn and Gus helped with an exorcism in season 4. The two later sought his assistance in a case they were working on in a season 6 episode, due to it being a Twin Peaks tribute that brought back actors from the original show. That was the last time they encountered the character onscreen in Psych, though Wise did return to play a judge in Psych’s first-and-only remake episode in season 8. Psych 3: This Is Gus gives the actor a cameo that puts him back in his Father Westley role for the first time since 2010.
