Razer Huntsman V2 Analog Vs BlackWidow V3 Pro Best Gaming Keyboard

The Razer Huntsman V2 Analog offers some of the most advanced gaming features found in a keyboard. Although the BlackWidow V3 Pro might not be as quite as advanced, it does come with some features that its more expensive counterpart doesn’t. Razer only recently unveiled the latest iteration of its high-end Huntsman elite keyboard, along with a wealthy dose of new features.

Unlike the original, the Huntsman V2 Analog now comes with a magnetic wrist rest, a USB 3.0 passthrough slot, and better constructed doubleshot PBT keys. Razer’s BlackWidow V3 Pro, on the other hand, also came with vast improvements over the original, boasting dedicated media keys, an additional wrist rest and doubleshot ABS keys. That said, the BlackWidow V3 Pro is now sounds a lot closer to the Huntsman series than it did before, but with the added capability of having a fully wireless and customizable experience.

So, which of the two offers more value in terms of features and pricing when it comes to gaming? The Huntsman V2 Analog is Razer’s first-ever analog optical gaming keyboard. Its tactile, pressure-sensitive keys and dual-step actuation features provide an unprecedented edge in making gameplay more immersive, while making controls feel less restrictive in the process. However, it’s also easily one of the priciest keyboards around, starting at $249. The BlackWidow V3 costs slightly less at $229, but its versatile connectivity options makes it seem a lot more expensive than the price suggests, comprising of a detachable wired connection, Bluetooth, and 2.4 GHz wireless connectivity – via a dongle that has a dedicated storage slot underneath the keyboard.

Huntsman Vs. BlackWidow: Pros & Cons

There are lots of reasons to opt for a mechanical keyboard, but when it comes to gaming, things can get trickier. In terms of gameplay advantage, the Huntsman V2 Analog’s fully-adjustable actuation and analog input gives it another dimension of controllability that the BlackWidow V3 simply cannot deliver. The implementation of its dual-step actuation can map two functions seamlessly to one button, opening up a lot of creative applications, not only for games but other productivity software as well. The textured doubleshot PBT keys also make it less prone to grease smears and subtle stains, compared to the BlackWidow V3’s doubleshot ABS keys. The added USB 3.0 passthrough slot also provides extra peripheral support and daisy-chaining capabilities, which is basically not possible with the BlackWidow V3. Furthermore, it’s paired with a powered, magnetically attachable wrist rest that supports full RGB lighting, unlike the BlackWidow V3’s wrist rest that’s not only incapable of being secured to the keyboard itself, but is just a static, non-powered accessory.

However, the Huntsman V2 Analog only comes with a non-detachable wired connection, making it far less flexible, not to mention difficult to replace once it breaks. While its touch-sensitive analog input might open up lots of gaming possibilities, not every game supports it, nor is the feature guaranteed to cooperate properly with other branded peripherals, such as wireless mice, joysticks and additional input hardware. Meanwhile, the BlackWidow V3 has a detachable wired connection coupled with two wireless modes. It utilizes Razer’s proprietary HyperSpeed wireless technology, resulting in latency that’s nearly indistinguishable from wired keyboards. This translates to instantaneous gaming response times without the need to be tethered to a fixed area. It also comes with most of the mechanical keys and media buttons of the Huntsman V2 Analog but at $20 less, albeit without the analog optical keys capability. It’s worth noting that gaming in wireless mode at full RGB brightness will only make it last a day, which could prove to be too much of an inconvenience for some.

Overall, deciding between these two comes down to what users prioritize more in gaming. For some, the added depth in gameplay that the Huntsman V2 Analog brings to the table will matter, while others might prefer the no-frills and flexible experience that the BlackWidow V3 offers. Regardless of their differences, Razer keyboards are still among the best in gaming, and the minimal price difference should easily make either one a safe bet.
