REPORT Bill Murray Has a Part in Marvels AntMan 3

A new report indicates that iconic actor Bill Murray may be involved in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

As noted by Cosmic Circus, a recent casting listing for the film suggests that Murray may make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in the third Ant-Man movie. Posted on Mandy.com, the listing in question is for one John Townsend, who has been hired to work as a photo double for Murray on “Dust Bunny,” the production name for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The specifics of the role are currently unknown.

Cosmic Circus also points out that the film’s director, Peyton Reed, has previously voiced his admiration and fondness for Bill Murray. In early 2021, Reed tweeted out a signed image of Murray, writing, “A Pre-SNL Bill Murray played The Human Torch in the Fantastic Four Radio Show back in 1975. I was a fan. Years later, at the GROUNDHOG DAY junket, he signed this for me.” The autographed image reads, “Flame on! The Human Torch.”

While it’s a fun connection, Murray’s involvement in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania remains unconfirmed. Neither Marvel nor the actor himself has said anything about his casting. Given that the production of the movie only started recently and it’s slated for a Feb. 17 2023 release date, it may yet be a while before the film’s complete cast list is disclosed.

As for the confirmed stars of the film, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will see the return of several MCU characters. Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lily will reprise their roles as Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne while Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer return as Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne. Kathryn Newton will play Cassie Lang, Scott’s beloved daughter. Two major villains are also set to return: Corey Stoll as Darren Cross (last seen in 2015’s Ant-Man) and Jonathon Majors as Kang the Conqueror, who recently debuted in Loki.

Before Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Marvel fans have plenty more to look forward to. Eternals and Spider-Man: No Way Home will release in theatres on Nov. 5 and Dec. 17 respectively. 2022 will also see the launch of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and The Marvels.
