Stuart Smith, assistant to The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Jen Shah, has turned on his former employer by changing his plea to guilty. The Utah housewife has been keeping her head up amid the legal issues, but the news comes as a blow. Stuart and Jen were inseparable during season 1, leaving fans to wonder what would become of Jen.

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City season 2 has certainly started off with a bang as Bravo cameras were able to catch the moment NYPD and Homeland Security rolled up to the Beauty Lab to try and arrest Jen. Instead, they found several confused housewives, who revealed that Jen had been tipped off and fled the scene. Jen was arrested shortly after that on the side of the road. This explosive episode gave the newest franchise its highest ratings. Even though Jen has maintained her innocence, new information may cast her in a new light.

Famed lawyer Ronald Richards has been keeping RHOSLC fans abreast of court proceedings, which recently revealed that Stuart changed his plea. In a shocking turn of events, Stuart admitted to hiding money and lying under oath. According to Ronald, “He pleaded guilty to three counts: conspiracy to commit wire fraud, money laundering and obstruction of justice.” Stuart also admitted to defrauding the elderly and lying to the Federal Trade Commission during a deposition. Judge has finished Stuart Smith’s canvassing, and now is moving on to the information. He is charged with conspiring to commit wire & money laundering, and obstructing an official proceeding. This is commonly known as obstructing justice. Presumably at Jen’s direction. pic.twitter.com/1rFcDrCqmj

Even though Stuart may be cooperating, he could still face a maximum prison sentence of 30 years. The personal assistant will be sentenced in March. In August, fans learned that Stuart was working diligently towards a resolution and had his attorney write a letter to the U.S. District judge. At the time, Ronald speculated that Stuart was preparing to flip his plea and turn on Jen. This latest news seems to solidify what Ronald initially thought would happen.

For her part, Jen tried her best to have the case against her thrown out, blaming a dry contact. The Bravo personality alleged that her contact lens had caused her to waive her Miranda rights. After Sunday’s episode, Jen took to social media to slam her co-stars for talking behind her back on the bus to Vail. It seems as if the tables are turning on Jen. Most fans are now waiting on bated breath to hear what information Stuart may have on his former friend.
