Rick Grimes Walking Dead Location Revealed Where The Civic Republic Is

Warning: This article contains spoilers for The Walking Dead: World Beyond season 2, episode 10.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond series finale has seemingly revealed the headquarters of the Civic Republic and the most likely location of the long-missing Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln). The CRM’s Hidden City has been the subject of great mystery in the spinoff series, especially since it’s the place that most assume will be the setting for Rick’s Walking Dead movies. Throughout World Beyond’s two-season run, the show has carefully avoided confirming exactly where it is on the map.

Officially known as the Hidden City to those within the CRM and the Civic Republic, the CR’s main base has been a well-kept secret in The Walking Dead universe. It was explained earlier in The Walking Dead: World Beyond season 2 that the CR is so protective of the Hidden City’s location because of concerns they have about potential threats. According to Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh), the higher-ups in the CRM are trying to ensure a “statistical balance” in regards to populations and resources under their control. If things were to get out of hand at one or more of their settlements, people could rise up and attack their Hidden City if they knew where it was located. Concealing its location helps the CR avoid this outcome.

Hope’s group didn’t ultimately learn the secret of the CR’s Hidden City, but it was shown off toward the end of the Walking Dead: World Beyond series finale as the backdrop for Jadis’ exchange with Silas (Hal Cumpston) and the scene where Jadis arrested Elizabeth (Julia Ormond) for treason. The buildings in the background give it the appearance of a historic American city. One building in particular has been identified as One Liberty Place, a skyscraper in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. While nothing has been confirmed as of yet, these details point to Philadelphia being the CR’s Hidden City. If so, this may be where the CRM helicopter took Rick after his exit from The Walking Dead in season 9.

The show’s Hidden City reveal raises questions about its implications. Though Walking Dead: World Beyond’s ending implied that the stories of its main characters would continue, it remains to be seen if that will actually happen. However, they may not be a part of the Walking Dead franchise’s plan for the Hidden City. Though the characters have expressed interest in finding it, it may be relevant only to Rick’s future instead. With Rick’s location and the CRM’s headquarters being two major secrets, it’s entirely possible that the answers to these mysteries are one and the same.

This being the case would make a lot of sense, considering that there must be a reason why The Walking: Dead World Beyond season 2 delivered so much setup for its Hidden City reveal. If it wasn’t about the main characters’ stories, chances are that it’s linked to what comes next for Rick. Whenever Rick returns, he could be living in the place that the CR values the most. If so, escaping could require even greater efforts than it took for Hope’s group to leave New York in The Walking Dead: The World Beyond.
