Riverdale The Teens Ranked From Most Heroic To Most Villainous

Nobody does it quite like the teenagers of Riverdale, whether it be song, dance, heroics or villainy. The high schoolers of the town don’t just study for SATs or play sports; they also indulge in disturbing deeds, and some illicit activities too. For a small town, Archie, Jughead, Betty, Veronica, and their schoolmates find too many villainous acts to commit.

However, the teens of surreal Riverdale aren’t all bad. In the midst of the murder and mayhem, a select few make the effort to look out for each other and the community. In fact, some Riverdale teens perform noble feats of everyday heroism. Who made the naughty list? And who’s sitting pretty at nice?

10 Cheryl Blossom

Riverdale The Teens Ranked From Most Heroic To Most Villainous

Redhead and former River Vixen leader Cheryl Blossom is easily the most villainous teenager on Riverdale. For a 16 to 17-year-old, Cheryl has done a number of questionable, and frankly, unbelievably awful things to the people around her.

Apart from her casual body shaming, outing gay classmates, and assaulting people in the school cafeteria — remember the Jughead slap? — she burnt down her own home, which resulted in her mother making a desperate run into the burning residence to fetch a portrait — and though mother Blossom is a cold-blooded serial killer, it was still sad to watch.

Penelope ended up with severe burns, and a clearly unrepentant Cheryl threatened her into silence in hospital by blocking off her air supply. Cheryl also killed Uncle Bedford, which was done in self-defense but pretending to feed him family pies made from human flesh was pure villainy.

9 Betty Cooper

While Betty may seem like a blue-eyed angel, she is quite the opposite. Betty doesn’t just indulge in messed up behavior when she is “Dark Betty”; she does it on an everyday basis without the weird black wig.

When Betty sided with Archie and helped Miss Grundy get away, she was essentially aiding a sexual predator. Betty also went and smashed her father’s grave when she didn’t get into Yale. Before that, she had blackmailed Cheryl by threatening to release the video of Jason’s getting shot, which is an abominable thing to do. The oh-so angelic Betty also willingly sent Chic to the Black Hood, almost drowned him as Dark Betty, and helped her mother cover up a murder — yet she somehow maintains her girl-next-door image.

8 Veronica Lodge

Not surprisingly, daddy’s girl Veronica Lodge definitely skews villain. She was always a mean girl at Spence in New York, and even though she claimed to have turned a new leaf, her wicked side comes out quite often in Riverdale, especially with her indulgence in Jingle Jangle and accusing Cheryl of Jason’s murder.

At the start of the show, Veronica was very against her father’s mafioso ways and had a few breakdowns about it. But she eventually switched sides and asked her parents for a more active role in her father’s company, criminal activity and all. She rallied for her parents buying Sunnyside trailer park and Southside High to convert into a prison. On the oppressive Picken’s Day, she supported and cheered for her father’s offensive speech. Then when it was convenient for her, she again became her father’s rival and framed him for illegal activity at La Bonne Nuit.

7 Jughead Jones

Jughead claims to be a paragon of all things moral and right, but the beanie-toting writer has done his fair share of evil and illegal deeds which are hard to ignore. When he found out that Gladys was using his trailer as a meth lab, he indulged in casual arson and burnt his former home to the ground without a second thought.

He also had no hesitation about transporting drugs across borders to pay off his debt to Penny Peabody. He used Betty’s past and the story of the Black Hood as literary fodder. Jughead also helped Alice cover up Dwayne’s murder without a smidge of guilt, and wilfully harmed a woman by cutting off a part of her arm to get rid of a tattoo. No heroics here.

6 Fangs Fogarty

While Fangs hasn’t had much screentime Riverdale, he is a mix of villainous and cowardly. When he was introduced to the show, he was a young Serpent eager to earn his stripes and seemed willing to do almost anything to prove his worth. He had planned to blow up the Riverdale Register alongside Sweet Pea and some of the others to prevent a story from getting out. He also attempted to attack Archie to gain favor with the Southside.

Whenever it came down to fight or flight, Fangs always made a run for it, leaving people behind. Fangs may not be as bad as the others (he did help out with Toys for Tots and Meals on Wheels with the Serpents), but he was not a hero.

5 Reggie Mantle

Riverdale High’s stereotypical jock isn’t villainous per se, but he hasn’t been very nice in the past either. As discovered in season 4, Reggie had a sad childhood because of his abusive father, which is why he takes solace in playing practical jokes on school authorities like Principal Honey.

Reggie used to deal Jingle Jangle in school and he tried to scare Archie wearing a fake black hood after his dad was shot, which was quite a deplorable thing to do to a friend. He also had a firm hatred for Southsiders borne from prejudice. At the same time, Reggie was a loyal friend to Moose and Veronica when they needed him most.

4 Toni Topaz

While not a lot is known about Toni Topaz, she was a prominent member of the Southside Serpents, and a kind and compassionate human being underneath her tough exterior.

Toni was unfailingly kind and protective of Jughead even when he wasn’t a part of the Serpents, and she made sure he was safeguarded at all times. She was also kind to Cheryl when she was frosty to her, which eventually culminated in a sweet relationship.

Toni was a supportive partner through thick and thin. From what little fans know, Toni descended from the Uktena tribe, and she had a hard childhood before joining the Serpents. Toni heroically saved Cheryl from the Sisters of Quiet Mercy when Penelope sent her there for conversion therapy.

3 Kevin Keller

Kevin has his moments of indiscretion, but he is overall a lot nicer than bad. He sticks up for his friends and helps them out in any way he can. His biggest heroic deed is living his reality with pride, and being a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community.

Though he did some terrible things after being brainwashed by the Farm, Kevin tries to redeem himself by helping Betty find and take down the cult. When Principal Honey refused to let Kevin perform Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Kevin heroically stood his ground and performed a few numbers as a protest and in support of his community.

2 Josie McCoy

The leader of Josie and The Pussycats was easily one of the most quietly heroic characters of Riverdale. According to her, in her early years in the town, her mother had been appointed mayor and faced racist slander and hateful messages from people. Josie and her mother grit their teeth and carried on, and Josie had formed her band in the meantime.

Josie’s aim was to promote women of color and give them a platform. Her musical battle against prejudice wasn’t recognized on the show as well as it could have been, but it was an act of courage and heroism like no other.

1 Archie Andrews

Protagonist Archie Andrews is easily the most heroic on the show, as evidenced by his various programs to help the community, his selflessness, and his desire to save others.

Archie had no reason to be heroic since he has a smooth path to popularity in school, but he takes the effort to be better. He had his weird moments too, like his friendship with Hiram, but his noble deeds win over. He broke his hand saving Cheryl from her suicide attempt, converted his gym into a community center to take care of vulnerable youth, defended them from outside threats, and even took on the blame for a murder he didn’t commit to save his parents’ money. Archie is the most heroic teen of Riverdale.
