Satisfactory How to Tame the Lizard Doggo (The Easy Way)

Satisfactory is a game wherein players take the role of a pioneering engineer working for Ficsit Inc. on an alien planet. The game encourages exploration, factory-building and human ingenuity as the engineer begins harvesting the world’s natural resources. On the planet are fauna like the fluffy-tailed hogs, the spider-like stingers, and even giant flying mantas. But the community favorite by far is the creature known as the “lizard doggo”.

As the name suggests, this alien creature is reminiscent of canines and some sort of reptile. It is pink, has four eyes and is cute to boot. It’s probably why the dog-like alien became Satisfactory’s unofficial mascot and has appeared in several promotional materials.

How to Find and Tame the Lizard Doggo in Satisfactory

The lizard doggo is seemingly able to spawn all over the map, regardless of the biome. Which means this creature can be encountered just about anywhere at random. These Doggos are naturally skittish creatures, and will naturally run away from the player if they approach too fast or begin jumping around.

To tame the little alien pup, the player first needs to approach the creature slowly. It will still be cautious of the player, but when approached slowly they will begin staring at the engineer. Likely licking its lips. It should be clear that the little guy is hungry.

While its attention is still on the engineer, the player should drop one Paleberry on the ground as an offering. This is done by clicking and dragging one Paleberry outside of the inventory window. Assuming the player remains completely still, the lizard doggo should then go to the berry and eat it. If the player then interacts with the little alien and it jumps then the player should know: they now have a little alien companion.

Just be aware that this taming isn’t indefinite. These lizard Doggos have been reported to ‘forget’ players fairly often. This usually happens when a player dies and respawns, runs too far away from the lizard doggo, or using blade runners. Thankfully, all it takes is another Paleberry to regain the forgetful alien dog as a companion.

It should also be noted that these lizard Doggos are completely incapable of jumping. This means if the player wants their companion to follow them around, they may need to occasionally build platforms so the little guy can continue following the player. The creatures also have a bad habit of falling to their death. In their zeal to keep up with the engineer, it is not at all uncommon for the lizard Doggos to fall down a ravine, a giant hole or similar falling hazards.

With the lizard Doggo having so many traveling flaws, it is no wonder that several players have taken to keeping them in makeshift pens for their own safety. The player can’t lose track of their little puppy if they always know where it is.

What Does the Doggo Do in Satisfactory?

Aside from looking and acting adorable, the lizard doggo can occasionally bring the player an item. Every once in awhile the engineer should interact with the Doggo to see if it has anything in its inventory. Sometimes its common stuff like iron ore or limestone. But occasionally the lizard Doggo will bring the player something useful. Like power slugs.

The interesting part? These items are not harvested from the world around them but are instead generated directly inside of the lizard doggo’s inventory. This means even if it is confined to pen or stuck in an area that has been picked clean of resources, the lizard doggo can give the player items.
