10 Our Cup Runneth Over (Season 1, Episode 1)

In revisiting Johnny and Moira’s journey through the show, it is important to start at the very beginning. The first episode introduces the Rose family as they lose everything and have to move to the titular town.

Seeing Johnny and Moira at their lowest point, contending with this very different sort of life makes the rest of the show that much more satisfying. It is more than just a funny fish-out-of-water story because these two characters are so very entertaining.

9 The Cabin (Season 1, Episode 5)

After Johnny and Moira find it too hard to have intimacy when they are forced to share a motel with their children, they begin looking for some kind of getaway. Luckily, Roland offers them his own cabin they can use for a night of romance.

The cabin proves to be perfect for the Roses to have some alone time, but they weren’t as alone as they thought. After finishing their fun in the bedroom, they come out to see Bob and his wife on the couch as Bob explains that this is actually his cabin and they were there the whole time. It’s one of the more uncomfortable moments in the show.

8 Honeymoon (Season 1, Episode 10)

It’s fair to say that Johnny and Moira had a grander social life in their wealthy days. While they are initially reluctant to make friends in their new town, they finally decide to mingle with the locals when Roland hosts a party.

Though Johnny and Moira might seem a little high-strung at times, they prove that they certainly know how to party. It is great to see the couple finally allow themselves to let loose and have some fun.

7 Happy Anniversary (Season 2, Episode 13)

Part of the charm of this show is how living in this very simple new town changes the Rose family for the better and this episode is a very important one in this journey. Celebrating their anniversary, Johnny and Moira escape to a fancy restaurant where they bump into some friends from their old life.

The Roses are mortified when Roland and Jocelyn show up and join the party. But when their snooty friends start making fun of Schitt’s Creek, Johnny and Moira stand up for their new home, showing how much they’ve grown.

6 New Car (Season 3, Episode 3)

When these two put their mind to something, they make a great team. However, Moira and Johnny can also have very different approaches which are not always very effective, such as when they decide to buy a new car.

Johnny believes passing themselves off as downtrodden will get them a better price on the vehicle, which Moira takes to mean playing an over-the-top character straight out of a Charles Dickens story. It is a great example of how there can be so much love between two people who are so very different.

5 The Jazzaguy (Season 4, Episode 8)

Despite initially being repulsed by their new town, each member of the Rose family gradually finds their own ways of fitting in and becoming part of the community. One of Moira’s unexpected pleasures is joining to local female acapella group known as the Jazzagals.

After Johnny feels guilty for not spending much time with Moira, he decides to visit a session of the Jazzagals and quickly fits in as one of the gang. While Johnny is happy to be welcomed, Moira eventually admits that, while she loves spending time with Johnny, she is not too fond of him invading her spotlight.

4 Love Letters (Season 5, Episode 2)

There are very rare moments when Johnny and Moira have trouble in their marriage. However, when Moira discovers some old love letters from an unknown woman that Johnny has been keeping for years, her jealousy takes over.

Given how confident Moira usually is, it’s fascinating to see her become this insecure partner and it is also strange to think of Johnny as pining for some other woman all these years. This all leads to the rather sweet conclusion where Johnny reminds Moira that she wrote those letters.

3 Roadkill (Season 5, Episode 10)

It seems like every time Johnny and Moira attempt to have a little quality time to themselves, something goes terribly wrong. In this episode, the couple is on their way out of town to enjoy a spa getaway. However, when they accidentally run over a cat, they feel obliged to tell the owner.

Despite doing the right thing, the owners don’t make it easy on the Roses and force them to tell their adult daughter her cat is dead. It’s always hysterical seeing Johnny and Moira finding themselves in an impossibly awkward situation.

2 Smoke Signals (Season 6, Episode 1)

Once again, an innocent little romantic moment turns into an opportunity for embarrassment. In this episode, Johnny and Moira decide to spend the afternoon together and go have a picnic in the park. Moira even suggests they relive their younger years by skinny-dipping in the creek.

Johnny is eager to follow through on this idea, but Moira gets distracted by a phone call. Eventually, Johnny is returned to her by a police officer who suggests they find somewhere more private to do that kind of thing.

1 Happy Ending (Season 6, Episode 14)

Of course, the series finale is an essential episode for any Schitt’s Creek fans and ends the show on a very charming note. While the episode is more focused on all the main characters rather than just Johnny and Moira, it provides them with a fitting ending.

As Johnny begins his next business venture and Moira returns to television, they bid farewell to the town and the people that helped bring them to the place and the show ends with the image of Johnny and Moira driving away.
