When the Rose family ended up in Schitt’s Creek after losing their business, there’s no way they anticipated how their lives would continue to change in the small town. They didn’t just stay in Schitt’s Creek because they had to; it became their home.

Along with learning to appreciate their quaint new surroundings, the family also made a lot of great friends, and these relationships helped to drive a lot of the storylines. While all of the characters forged great connections, the core friendships in the series had their ups and downs. Ultimately, some characters are better friends than others.

10 Alexis And Ted

Alexis has been through a lot in her life, and her friends have always been more interested in partying than being there for her. Being in Schitt’s Creek is the first time Alexis has had to make friends out of her existing social circle, and while that works in some cases, it’s not so great with Ted.

That’s because Alexis and Ted try to be friends (and co-workers) after they’ve already dated and broken up once. Neither of them is truly interested in friendship, no matter how hard they try to pretend they are. While they both go out of their way to do nice things for one another, like Ted helping Alexis with her lice problem, deep down, they’re both doing these things in the hopes of getting back together.

9 Johnny And Roland

Roland Schitt and Johnny Rose are not the easiest people to be friends with. They’re both very stubborn and have very particular ways of doing things. Perhaps that’s why they butt heads so much in the series, despite how much they grow to care about one another.

Roland frequently steps on his friend’s toes by doing the exact opposite of what he’s asked to do. Likewise, Johnny always thinks of himself as better than Roland, which leads to a lot of moments with him not willing to admit when he’s wrong. The two learn a lot from one another over the course of the show, but they definitely don’t have the most functional of friendships.

8 Alexis And Stevie

Alexis and Stevie are like oil and water. Alexis loves nothing more than to show up on every “best dressed” list in the world, while Stevie would rather no one pay attention to what she’s wearing at all.

The two also don’t have a ton of interactions together in the series. When they do share scenes, it’s often because of David, or because one of them needs advice. But it’s worth noting that they actually care enough to help the other out when needed, despite their divide.

7 Moira And Ronnie

When the Rose family moved to town, Ronnie was one of the many supporting characters who didn’t really want them there. She didn’t trust any of them, especially Moira, when it came to her beloved town.

Luckily, Ronnie is pretty upfront about her feelings on everything. When she and Moira both end up on the town council, she wasn’t about to let Moira coast. The two don’t always get along, but they grow to understand and respect one another.

6 Alexis And Twyla

Alexis and Twyla have an interesting path to friendship. While Twyla initially sees them as friends, Alexis uses their friendship to make herself feel better a lot of the time. She looks to Twyla to affirm her ego, or to make herself feel like she’s doing a good thing by giving away expensive pieces of clothing and jewelry to her.

Eventually, Alexis starts to do these things because she genuinely likes Twyla, not because she wants something from her. Twyla, for her part, is always nice to Alexis, and though she might not always be interested in Alexis’ tales from her past, she always appreciates it when Alexis wants to chat with her.

5 Alexis And David

A lot of the time in fiction, siblings don’t really rate as friends. As siblings, they have a familial bond that can mean they either love or hate one another depending on the story. That’s true for Alexis and David Rose as well, but the two are there for one another more often than either of their parents are, and they really bond over the course of the series.

David has always been the one to bail Alexis out of crazy situations, and Alexis is the one person who seems able to get through to David when he stresses out, like when he takes his driving test.

4 David And Stevie

Stevie is the first friend David makes in Schitt’s Creek. She’s just as sarcastic as he is, though she’s a lot more down to earth. The two hit it off right away, despite their vast differences.

They can trade barbs just as easily as they trade advice. Though their relationship isn’t typically one to get mushy, it’s clear how much they care about one another. Even when they hook up early in the show, they don’t let things stay awkward between them for long, moving on and still helping one another with their love lives.

3 Moira And Jocelyn

Moira and Jocelyn start off rocky. Jocelyn does her best to be nice and welcoming to the Roses, but Moira Rose’s outlandish behavior and not-so-veiled insults aren’t lost on her. But they don’t stop Jocelyn from trying.

For a long time, Moira thinks of herself as well above the residents of this small town. She and Jocelyn find common ground, however, though their singing. Moira might try to steal Jazzagal solos from her once in a while, but the two eventually find that they aren’t so different. Moira is there for Jocelyn when she needs a shoulder to cry on and Jocelyn is there to offer Moira support when she’s upset about her floundering career. They even work together on the town’s big musical.

2 Stevie And Patrick

This friendship might be one of the most surprising to come out of the series. Though Patrick is initially shown as a straight-laced numbers guy when David wants to open his own business, Stevie meets him and sees that his sarcastic nature is not unlike her own.

The two hit it off quickly and spend a lot of their scenes together indulging in their favorite pastime: teasing David. Despite David being one of the people they’re both closest to, they’re also able to bond and keep two pretty big secrets from him. They take dance lessons together when they join the musical, but don’t want him to make fun of them. Patrick also goes to Stevie first when he considers proposing to David.

1 Johnny And Stevie

Though Stevie keeps addressing him formally as Mr. Rose throughout the series, she clearly grows very close to him as time goes on.

Mr. Rose is the only person Stevie opens up to about her insecurities with the motel — and her relationship with a travel blogger that turns sour. The two find themselves unlikely teammates in business, but they become as close as family. It’s hard to imagine what their lives would have been like if they hadn’t formed this strange friendship.
