After years of fan demand, Ubisoft has revealed that Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game will be returning to consoles during its latest UbiForward showcase. Fans of the graphic novels, film, and the original game have long been asking for Ubisoft to return the critically-acclaimed Scott Pilgrim video game to digital storefronts after the licensing deal for the title expired in 2014. Upon that deal’s expiration, it was yanked off of all services and made unavailable for purchase – leaving gamers unable to legitimately download or play it.

Understandably, this left a bitter taste in the mouths of fans that simply wanted to enjoy the side-scrolling beat ’em up. Things were silent for quite a while before the creator of Scott Pilgrim, Bryan Lee O’Malley, began teasing the game’s return on his personal Twitter account. As it turns out, O’Malley wasn’t just blowing birthday cake-scented smoke either, as Ubisoft was indeed involved in plans to return the game to marketplaces for the film’s 10th anniversary.

Following a tease from the Scott Pilgrim vs. The World film’s director Edgar Wright, Ubisoft’s has officially pulled the curtain back on Scott Pilgrim vs The World: The Game Complete Edition. After six years of being unavailable to fans, this version of the title will bring back the fantastic soundtrack and beloved sidescrolling action gamers have been chomping at the bit for. It’s currently set to arrive on Google Stadia, Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One platforms at some point in Holiday 2020 for $19.99.

Seeing Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game return just goes to show how important the voices of fans really are. If it weren’t for their longtime support, it’s likely that this game would have stayed in the same licensing-based hell that currently is currently occupied by the N64 classic GoldenEye 007. In that light, seeing the game return in its complete form is a quasi-miracle in itself.

Of course, it’s also a sign of the times when game companies are coasting on remakes, remasters, and ports to flesh out their annual lineups. Heck, Ubisoft also revealed Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake during the same presentation that Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game Complete Edition was shown. Perhaps what’s old can be new again – although very few people are sure to complain about this particular revival.
