Sea of Thieves Fort of Fortune Guide

In Sea of Thieves, players have to battle some ferocious wild beasts, villainous pirates, and the dangers of the sea itself. But between battling Sea of Thieves creatures like the Kraken and stealing gold, players can also join in world events to earn extra booty. One of these rewarding events is the Fort of Fortune.

Finding the Fort of Fortune

In order to fill their ships with loot from this world event, players will have to find it first. The event is extremely rare, so players should keep their eyes open for the signs of one of these events beginning. The possible locations for a Fort of Fortune are any of the Sea of Thieves skeleton forts located on the map out at sea. These are:

Signs that Fort of Fortune is Live

Sea of Thieves Season 2 players will need to look out for two signs that a Fort of Fortune is about to be live: a loud horn and a scarred skull in the sky. The horn noise can be heard just about anywhere on the map, but it can be fairly quiet and easy-to-miss if players aren’t close by. Thankfully, the massive, red-eyed skull can be see from much further away. It looks similar to the floating skull usually hanging over a skeleton fort, but this one is much angrier looking. Look for glowing red eyes, glowing red scars, and a soft red glow all the way around the skull in the sky.

Defeating the Fort of Fortune

Players will have to defeat 18 waves of enemies in order to win against Fortune; this world event doesn’t have easy enemies either. Expect to have a hard fight ahead, and prepare with rare and powerful Sea of Thieves items to deal as much damage as possible. These 18 waves have an undead theme, and will consist of the following:

Rewards

On top of the regular pouches of gold and other items dropped by the enemies during combat, players will earn several stellar rewards for their efforts. Many of this items might come in handy while players are wandering through the new Season 2 Sea of Thieves trade routes.

Players can also earn another reward of sorts: a commendation for the defeat of the Sea of Thieves’ Fort of Fortune. This commendation called Scourge of the Brutal Bastions has five levels, and players can continue to ascend these levels as they defeat this world event more times.
