After all, she was stylish, had hundreds of expensive shoes, had a particular charm about her, and was half of what would become the show’s most beloved pair.

But now that 2020 is upon us, Carrie seems to get more problematic by the minute. She wasn’t a very good friend, made bad financial choices, and chased a man who wasn’t a very good partner because she was so addicted to the back and forth. Miranda, on the other hand, who was often overlooked for her tomboyish style and cynical views on love, becomes increasingly more appealing. 10 When She Refused To Apologize For Her Success

Miranda Hobbes had a lot going for her. She was a powerful lawyer who loved her career, who, by the time she was in her early to mid-thirties, was able to afford her own apartment in New York City.

She often had to fight hard to be taken seriously at work and achieve the position she did, and this also meant that she made more money than her boyfriend Steve. Did she care? Absolutely not! In her own words, “I want to enjoy my success, not apologize for it”. A true modern icon, indeed.

9 When She Told The Girls Off For Just Talking About Men

Just like any group of girlfriends would do, the women in Sex and the City got together very often and spent much of that time discussing their relationships, men, and sex. However, Miranda gave voice to what many audience members might think while binge-watching the show.

“How does it happen that four smart women have nothing to talk about but boyfriends? What about us? What we think, we feel, we know — Christ! Does it always have to be about them? Just give me a call when you’re ready to talk about something besides men.” You’re absolutely right, Miranda!

8 When She Called Out Carrie On Being A Bad Friend

Carrie was probably the most selfish friend out of the group, and that shone through several times. For instance, there was that one time when Miranda was lying naked on her bathroom floor unable to move, called Carrie for help, and Carrie sent her boyfriend to help her friend instead.

That’s already bad, but when Carrie had the audacity to visit Miranda afterward only to start talking about her problems sent Miranda over the edge. Being who she is, Miranda promptly called her out.

7 And When She Called Out Carrie Again For Her Obsession With Big

Carrie’s obsession with Big was borderline toxic, and very few good things came out of that relationship. Big refused to commit to her, then the two got together to cheat on their respective partners, and he essentially left her at the altar. In spite of all this, Carrie still insisted on her big love story.

Miranda saw right through all of this, and there was one particular scene that laid it all out. “Every time you get near him, you turn into this pathetic, needy, insecure victim”, she told Carrie. “And you know what pisses me off the most? Is that you’re willing to go right back for more”. Too bad Carrie didn’t listen.

6 When She Stood Up To Magda About Her Toys And Lifestyle

Magda eventually became part of the family, but the beginning of the housekeeper’s relationship with Miranda was rocky. Magda had very outdated views on what a woman should do and behave like, going as far as replacing Miranda’s sex toys and condoms with a figure of a saint.

Of course, Miranda couldn’t care less and confronted Magda about how she liked to live her life. And that involved having sex, toys, and eating pies that she didn’t have to bake herself.

Even though she was the first out of the group to get pregnant, that didn’t mean Charlotte was about to change her entire personality and be quick to jump on the oftentimes suffocating culture surrounding moms and babies.

Miranda was to become a mother and she loved her child. But she didn’t want to take any part on all of the supposed excitement she was supposed to feel surrounding a happy but scary and painful milestone in life. She did it the Hobbes way!

4 When She Proposed To Steve

Another thing Miranda did the Hobbes way? Getting engaged, of course. Miranda was probably the least romantic of the group, often mocking Charlotte for her belief in soulmates.

When the time came where she was sure she wanted to spend the rest of her life with Steve, Miranda furloughed tradition and proposed to him instead of having him dot it.

3 When She Didn’t Wear White To Her Wedding

Yet another iconic moment when Miranda defied expectations was when she refused to wear white to her wedding. As she herself put it, she had a child and was the furthest thing from a virgin.

She didn’t want to conform to the idea that a wedding had to be all pink, white, and frills. If that’s you’re thing, more power to you! But it wasn’t Miranda’s, so she stayed true to herself.

2 When She Let Everyone Know The Importance Of Alone Time

Because she wasn’t a romantic at heart, Miranda often found it hard to bond with Steve during intimate moments such as cuddling, which was more prominent than ever during their honeymoon. Still, she found a way to compromise and keep him happy.

Miranda knew the importance of having time for yourself, even when you are in a relationship. She told Steve as much, and he understood. if you forget to be an individual, you can’t be part of a healthy relationship anymore.

1 When She Refused To Abide By Any Societal Expectations

Miranda’s marriage was on the rocks by the time the first movie hit the screens, and Steve confessed he cheated on her. There’s was this particular moment in which she’s sunbathing with her friends and Samantha calls her out because she hasn’t waxed.

Although Miranda is hurt because this brings back the painful reality of her broken relationship, it was still yet another glorious moment of Miss Hobbes showing everyone that if you don’t want to wax you don’t have to. Simple!
