Siesta Key Caroline Calloway Pays Off Over $100K Book Deal With OnlyFans Plans To Quit Platform

Caroline Calloway was recently photographed filming with Siesta Key cast members, and she announced last week to her Instagram followers that she paid off over $100,000 of debt through OnlyFans. The controversial social media personality told her followers that the debt was amassed due to her infamous book deal, which fell through.

After rising to prominence on IG due to her lengthy captions and academic escapades at Cambridge University, the American student was offered a book deal by Flatiron Books in 2015. While this appeared to be a dream come true for the aspiring author, who wanted to capture the 20-something Millennial voice, Caroline’s book never came to fruition. It was reported that Caroline received a six-figure advance, estimated to be around $500,000. Though Caroline returned the portion of the advance she had not spent, she was still left with roughly $125,000 of debt to Flatiron.

Caroline was a Daddy Issues Podcast guest on December 9. It was hosted by Angharad George-Carey. Calloway, 29, opened up about several topics over the nearly two-hour podcast, including her former debt and media misrepresentation. Caroline explained that she chose not to publish her memoir with Flatiron Books because she didn’t think it accurately reflected who she had become, as it focused too much on her relationship. Rather than focus on “breakups and bad hair days,” she said her story evolved, shifting focus to the “messy, complicated daughter of a mentally ill parent who’s addicted to Adderall.” However, she didn’t feel like the latter book would be as commercially accepted in 2015 as it would be today. Girlboss at Instagram weighed in on Caroline’s debt repayment. See the screenshot below:

The Florida resident said that she didn’t find former friend Natalie Beach’s infamous essay for The Cut, which exposed her as Caroline’s alleged ghostwriter, to be an accurate portrayal of her as a human. Nor did she think that other essays about her from that time period accurately fleshed her out. She also acknowledged that she had been canceled publicly twice but was confident that she could overcome a potential third cancellation. A final revelation included Caroline stating that she is “very, very mildly on the spectrum.” Critics of Caroline found her to be disingenuous and questioned if she was making the statement to try and defer blame for her controversial behavior. Leaning into her persona, Caroline also referred to herself as both a “character” and an online “performance artist.”

Regarding her future plans with OnlyFans, Caroline’s photos on the site are now listed as “user inactive,” though her profile is still visible. She stated on Instagram that controversy over her joining the site was unwarranted, as people didn’t understand her former financial situation. However, now that she has paid off her debt, she states that she no longer wishes to take up space in a marginalized industry. Caroline wrote, “Now that my own financial situation is less dire than it once was, I think the argument that celebs leave OnlyFans for the sex workers who ‘need the money more’ is more valid.” She also reposted someone acknowledging that she “very strategically commodified her sexy white womanhood” on the platform.

Following the podcast release, some social media comments accused Caroline of being rude to Angharad during the podcast, with commenters pointing out how she repeatedly undermined and insulted the podcast host. However, this might be on-brand for the self-proclaimed “scammer,” as she appears to be building her social media presence around her controversies. Will Caroline appear on Siesta Key or will her controversial past render her canceled like former castmate Alex Kompothecras? Siesta Key fans will have to stay tuned and see if MTV responds to online fan criticism over her rumored casting.
