Since 2000, the Sims franchise of video games has been allowing players to “play god” with avatars they create in their likeness. The player can practically build every aspect of their avatar’s life, constructing their home, choosing their career path, picking their life goals, and so much more. The most recent edition of the game, The Sims 4, hit the video game market on September 2, 2014. with the number of extension packs and options available for the player to choose from, The Sims 4 is one of the most in-depth Sims games to date.
For players new to the franchise, it can take a lot to really get started on the game. Thankfully, there are a number of cheats and hacks that every beginning Sims 4 fan can learn to help them play the game just as good as any seasoned Sims player, according to websites like PC Gamer and Kotaku.
10 Rosebud and Motherlode
A cheat that dates back to the original game, Rosebud is a quick way to build up your simoleons. To enable cheats (and one will need to do this to use any of the hacks and cheats on this list), you want to press Control + Shift + C, then type “rosebud” and hit enter to give yourself an extra 1,000 simoleons. If the gamer doesn’t want to have to enter this multiple times, an alternative code to Rosebud is Motherlode. Instead of only getting 1,000 simoleons, “Motherlode” will give the player 50,000 simoleons.
9 Free Real Estate
If the player doesn’t wish to build their own home, there is a hack that will allow the player to get any real estate they want. By entering “FreeRealEstate [on/off]” in the cheat menu, it allows the player to toggle on and off the option of getting a property for free.
It allows the player to not have to focus on either building their own property or working their way up from a small cheap home, and it gives them time to focus on their life goals for their avatars.
8 Adjusting Your Sim
Normally, once a Sim has been created, one cannot go back and make adjustments. But what if a player decides that they started their Sim at too old an age, or they want to make other adjustments? Thankfully, there’s a hack that will allow a player to go back and adjust any aspect of their character. First, in the cheat menu, the player has to type out “testingCheats true” and hit enter. Once entered, while pressing shift, click on a said character that needs adjusting, and the player would have an option to Modify In CAS (Create a Sim), where one can adjust almost any attribute of their Sim.
7 Fill All Your Needs
Sometimes it’s hard to keep one’s Sim happy, healthy, full, and rested all at once. A neat hack allows you to fill all your commodities at once.
By entering in the cheat code menu “sims.fill_all_commodities” it allows the player to not just fill the motives for one Sim but for their entire household. This hack becomes exceptionally handy when the Sims start having children.
6 So You Want To Kill Your Sim?
Any seasoned Sim player has killed their fair share of Sims. Some people get very creative and very dark in how they have their Sim meet their demise. Whether it’s putting them in the pool and taking out the ladder, or isolating them in a room and taking everything out including the door, the ways to kill a Sim are practically endless. However, if a player wants a sim to die of more ‘natural,’ causes; there are hacks available to help that. Kotaku has a good list of cheats listed including “sims.add_buff buff_death_electrocution_warning”, which makes the Sim more prone to being electrocuted. However, as the website explains, “these don’t automatically kill your Sims, mind you. They just put them in a state in which they’re more likely to die.”

Alternatively, if a player doesn’t want to die and instead wants to allow their Sim to live as long as they want to play the game, there is a hack that allows players to turn off death altogether.

If a player enters “death.toggle” into the cheat menu, it will turn off death for the entire game allowing the player to play with his/her Sim for as long as they want.
4 Ways To Boost Your Skills
Part of the process of helping a Sim obtain its life goals is to help it develop and master skills specific to that life goal. A lot of time can be taken up however by trying to master those skills. PC Gamer has a good list of cheats that allow a player to automatically master skills. For example, entering into the cheat menu “stats.set_skill_level Major_Logic 10”, it will max the character out on the Logic skill. The website has a list of codes that help you max out on most skillsets including “Major_Bartending” or “Major_Charisma.”
3 Make Friends the Easy Way
Sometimes a Sim’s personality or life goal requires them to make a lot of friends or romantic partners. However, it can take up quite a bit of time introducing the Sim to other Sims in the neighborhood. A good cheat to help your Sim automatically have friends is “relationships.create_friends_for_sim”. This code creates Sims who are friends with the main player’s Sim.
Alternatively, if the player wishes to develop friendships more naturally, the code “relationship.introduce_sim_to_all_others” will just introduce them to all their neighbors but allow the player to develop the friendships (or enemies) as they see fit.
2 Sims On The Move
If a player doesn’t want to wait for their Sim to run to a new point in the game, there is a neat hack that allows them to teleport their Sim to a new location. By holding down the shift button and clicking on the ground where the player wishes their Sim to be, it will automatically teleport their Sim to the new setting.
1 Obtaining Your Sims ID
A simple Google search will give any new player to the Sims a plethora of cheats, hacks, and tricks to help them get started in the game. Many of the codes a player will find online requires the player to have their individual Sim’s ID number. However, this is not a number that is visibly displayed without a cheat code.
If the player enters “sims.get_sim_id_by_name” (typing their Sim’s first and last name where “name” is), it will give them their Sims an ID which unlocks a whole plethora of other cheats.
