Skyrim Blackreach Locations: Every Entrance (& Exit)

In Skyrim, players can find multiple entrances and exits to Blackreach. It’s important to take note of these since it’s easy to get lost.

Blackreach features tons of different exits and entrances in Skyrim. Players looking to explore Blackreach, a large city that can be found deep within an underground cavern beneath the Tower of Mzark, will want to make a note of all the ways into or out of it. Blackreach features large glowing mushrooms that generate a bright blue light to keep it illuminated. Because Blackreach is also one of the largest dungeons in Skyrim, it’s very easy to get lost in its massive labyrinths or die and lose any items and progress.

Players will first encounter Blackreach as part of the “Elder Knowledge” quest in Skyrim. This is the twelfth main quest in the game. Alternatively, players can come across Blackreach during the “Discerning the Transmundane” quest for Prince Hermasues Mora. When exploring Blackreach, players will run into Frost Trolls, Giants, Wisps, Frostbite Spiders, and tons of other powerful enemy types, so they will need to be prepared.

There are seven possible entrances and exits for players to consider when exploring Blackreach. Each of them requires a different method of unlocking, and some can only be unlocked while in Blackreach. Having every entrance open can help players out of tough spots, so it is worth seeking all seven.

Every Exit and Entrance To Blackreach in Skyrim

• Tower of Mzart: Only available until the player starts the “Discerning the Transmundane” quest. The tower can be found in the southwest corner of the map and will be the player’s first main entrance into Blackreach.
• Mzinchaleft Gatehouse: This will open a spiral staircase and act as another exit. Players will need to activate it by using the Attunement Sphere they get from Septimus Signus at his outpost to the north of the College of Winterhold. Players can grab it during the “Discerning the Transmundane” quest.
• Raldbthar: On the peak near Shearpoint. Players will also need an Attunement Sphere to get inside. This location also goes by the name Raldbthar Deep Market.
• Alftland: Faces the Sea of Ghosts. This location also goes by the named Alftland Cathedral.
• Great Lift at Mzinchaleft: Can only be opened from the inside of Blackreach. Once it’s opened, players will be able to return through this location.
• Great Lift at Raldbthar: Can only be opened from the inside of Blackreach. Once it’s opened, players will be able to return through this location.
• Great Lift at Alftand: Can only be opened from the inside of Blackreach. Once it’s opened, players will be able to return through this location.

If players attempt to reach any of the Great Lifts before unlocking them, they will encounter an impassable barrier. These are the most convenient ways to get around Blackreach and all of Skyrim, so players should open them all to make the trek inside of Blackreach easier with each attempt.
