Sons of Anarchy Characters Sorted Into Their Game Of Thrones Houses

Characters from Sons of Anarchy were all fierce and loyal. But they could also sometimes be calculating, cruel, and power-hungry. Remind you of anything? There are actually some similarities between the series and that of another popular, now finished, show: Game of Thrones. Sons of Anarchy was set in present-day and followed a motorcycle club that often butted heads with rival gangs and got themselves into trouble with the law. Game of Thrones, meanwhile, was set centuries in the past, in a fictional time and place called Westeros where various Houses fought for power and a seat on the Iron Throne.

It’s easy to see how some of the SOA characters could have fit right in with different houses on GoT. Here’s how we would sort them.

10 Jackson “Jax” Teller: House Stark

While Jax had a temper and wasn’t afraid to lash out and hurt, or even kill, someone if they messed with someone he loved, it was all about protecting his family and friends. And this is what was at the core of House Stark.

They were fiercely loyal, just like Jax, though some of them wished things could be different. Jax’s struggle with his loyalty to the club and his desire to get out and live a normal life could be likened to Lyanna Stark, who wanted to marry the man she loved not the man she was supposed to be with.

9 Gemma Teller Morrow: House Targaryen

They say that every time a Targaryen is born, God flips a coin. Meaning some of them are fantastic while others are a little, well, nutty. OK, a lot nutty. And while Gemma certainly had her wits about her, she was prone to evil deeds and fits of rage like many Targaryens were.

She, like many a Targaryen, was simply on a quest for power. She wanted it all and would get rid of anything or anyone that got in the way of her maintaining her club and its so-called integrity. Just like Daenerys got a knife to the stomach in the end for her wrongdoings by her own family member, Gemma was shot in the head by her own son.

8 Robert “Bobby Elvis” Munson: House Baratheon

You can’t help but look at Bobby Munson and not notice the striking resemblance he has to King Robert Baratheon. Heck, they even have the same first name! But looks aside, he belonged to that house for many reasons.

Munson was once second-in-command for the club, showing his level head and respect people had for him. He had issues with Jax and his style of leadership just as Robert Baratheon sometimes had issues with Ned Stark. In fact, Bobby’s issues with Jax were similar to the issues the Baratheons had with the Targaryens. In the end, Bobby was killed just like Robert was.

7 Alexander “Tig” Trager: House Greyjoy

Tig was a loyal member of the group but sometimes he acted too hastily on vengeance without thinking through consequences, including that time he accidentally killed Opie’s wife when he was trying to kill him. Tig carried around a lot of demons just as many in House Greyjoy did.

House Greyjoy was a proud house that fought valiantly but knew when to give up and bend the knee. Likewise, Tig often found himself apologizing for things he did, regretting many of his actions after it was too late. He sounds a lot like Theon, in fact.

6 Filip “Chibs” Telford: House Lannister

Eventually president of the club, Chibs is one of the more level-headed of the bunch. Though he wouldn’t bow down to pressure, as evidenced from the deep scar on his face from a previous fight. He was strong and rational, much like many of the Lannisters of old, like Tywin.

He was also unequivocally loyal to Jax and the club, much like many of the Lannisters were to their family. So much so that they would turn a blind eye and ignore the fact that they knew the twins Cersei and Jaime were sleeping with one another that had resulted in three children being secretly born to incest.

5 Juan Carlos “Juice” Ortiz: House Martell

Juice often felt like the outcast, not wanting others to know he was actually half black. He was relatively simple-minded and sometimes cowardly, looking to do whatever was asked of him to gain approval.

Much like Juice, House Martell was sort of an outcast of Westeros, choosing to abide by their own rules and operating in an isolated silo on their own. They were called upon when needed, but aside from that, most people simply left them alone. He was killed in brutal fashion just like Oberyn Martell.

4 Wayne Unser: House Mormont

They weren’t a large house, as Lady Lyanna Mormont often noted. But they were a proud and fierce one. They were all about honor. And while Wayne, a police officer, didn’t always do the right thing, he always did what he thought was the right thing to do.

He was considered one of the “good guys” who was respected by both sides of the law, a rarity. Just like House Mormont was rarely seen as a threat or an enemy. They/he were mainly just there when you needed them. And if you were loyal to them, they would be loyal to you. Just like Wayne.

3 Dr. Tara Knowles: House Stark

Married to Jax, Tara was one of the most level-headed individuals of the group. She could be likened to Robb Stark’s wife Talisa, a healer in the battlefields who fell in love with the man from the North before being brutally killed.

She was tough and would do what needed to be done to protect the ones she loved. She put up with a lot, as House Stark did. But her loyalty never wavered. She was someone you could trust, just like those from House Stark.

2 Clarence “Clay Morrow”: House Lannister

Not every Lannister was the same but they were all out for the same thing – to maintain their power and live in opulence. That was Clay’s M.O., even plotting with Gemma to murder her husband so he could take over the group and marry her.

He was cunning, conniving, and manipulative. He wanted nothing but power for himself and to obliterate any enemies that came his way, even if they were within his own club. He wasn’t someone you wanted to mess with just like no one ever wanted to mess with the powerful Lannisters.

1 Harry “Opie” Winston: House Frey

Opie was a loose cannon sometimes. A strapping man, he was loyal to his family and was promoted to a high-ranking position. He was essentially Jax’s right-hand-man and best friend until he died.

But at one point, he was deemed a traitor. House Frey had also pushed back against the leaders, stripped of their land and titles. They were rougher around the edges than other Houses, but their words, “We Stand Together” showed that their internal bonds could not be broken.
