Star Wars: Every Ahsoka Tano Lightsaber Battle, Ranked

Ahsoka has been involved in some pretty epic battles. Here’s how they all rank.

One of the significant ways in which the beloved The Clone Wars series improved the Star Wars franchise was by introducing the world to Ahsoka Tano. She is a character who had a rough start with fans, but soon became one of the most adored characters in the forty-plus year history, with her story continuing to be a joy to watch every time she pops up.

Always a sure to be a great part of Ahsoka getting involved in an animated episode is her lightsaber battles. They are so often the most memorable parts of the movies, and Ahsoka helps massively make that the case for both animated shows.

13 Vs. Cato Parasitti

Cato Parasitti was a Clawdite, like Zam Wessel, who infiltrated the Jedi Temple and disguised herself as Jocasta Nu after getting hired by Cad Bane to steal a Holocron, before getting found out by Ahsoka.

A duel ensued between the two, and it was reasonably quick with Cato just trying to get away from Ahsoka, but Ahsoka, despite still being quite young, handily dealing with the untrained Parasitti.

12 Vs. Barriss Offee

Barriss Offee and Ahsoka Tano had a friendship that blossomed throughout The Clone Wars, which made Barriss’ eventual betrayal that much worse.

Long before that, though, the two did battle when Barriss got taken control of by a parasitical brain worm. The duel was more of a horror-esque hunt, with Ahsoka trying not to hurt Barriss as best she can.

11 Vs. General Grievous

Ahsoka and Grievous do battle on two occasions throughout The Clone Wars, with the first coming in season one.

It is a very short duel which sees Ahsoka on the run from Grievous to distract him. They clash sabers for a few seconds, and it is pretty good, but overall their encounter is more of a fun chase.

10 Vs. General Grievous

Their next duel came in season five and was an improvement on the first purely by being a straight-up duel. However, it was still lacking.

It suffers most from time, as it sees Ahsoka stand up to Grievous to protect the younglings. It is a fun, short duel that shows Ahsoka’s heart and sees her once again outmaneuver Grievous.

9 Vs. Maul (Rebels)

Rebels did not have many lightsaber battles compared to other pieces of content, but when it did have one, it was great.

This short encounter comes directly before Maul and Kanan square off, following Maul showing his true colors. Both Ashley Eckstein and Sam Witwer are great, and the brief flurry of clashes is a sight to behold.

8 Vs. Asajj Ventress (With Luminara Undulli)

Perhaps the first great lightsaber duel in The Clone Wars comes in the form of this two-on-one battle, which sees a Padawan Ahsoka team with Master Undulli, as Asajj attempts to take back Nute Gunray.

The duel truly highlights how much of a threat Ventress is, with a top-quality setting as well as a showcase of one of the many prequel Jedi not fleshed out in the prequels. Ahsoka saving the hubris filled Luminara is a real highlight moment for her.

7 Vs. The Inquisitors (With Kanan, Ezra, & Maul)

Rebels truly has an exceptional selection of lightsaber duels, and a good few come from the “Twilight Of The Apprentice” episodes, including this six-person duel with Ahsoka, Kanan, and Maul, with Ezra standing by, taking on the three Inquisitors on Malachor.

The duel is perhaps unfairly high, considering how short it is and how little Ahsoka is involved. Nevertheless, Maul is utterly incredible here with his new blade, with the trio forcing the Inquisitors into retreat.

6 Vs. Barriss Offee (Disguised As Asajj)

Going back to the friendship turned sour between Ahsoka and Barriss, the two fight for real while Ahsoka is on the run from the Jedi and the Republic, although Ahsoka believes she is fighting Ventress.

It is a great duel that has fans wondering who it is doing this all to Ahsoka. It sees Barriss lead Ahsoka right where she wants her to have her captured and is a brilliant looking clash.

5 Vs. Pre Viszla

Any time The Clone Wars ventured into the world of Mandalore and the Mandalorians, some phenomenal stuff was to come, and for a while, Pre Viszla was a significant part of that.

His duel with Maul is superior to this and is a genuinely cinematic piece of the action, but that does not mean Viszla and Ahsoka do not put on a great show, with the Mandalorian proving his fighting prowess, and Ahsoka proving her skill as she holds her own.

4 Vs. Anakin Skywalker & Obi-Wan Kenobi

The Mortis arc is one of the very best stories told in Star Wars animation and has so much brilliance sown throughout all three episodes, including this underrated battle between Ahsoka and Anakin and Obi-Wan.

When the possessed Ahsoka snaps about hating being called snips, it is excellent, and from there, her fury of offense on Anakin and Obi-Wan is fantastic, especially with the two Jedi trying their hardest to both survive Ahsoka’s onslaught and not harm her.

3 Vs. The Inquisitors

Ahsoka is a prominent part of Rebels for only one season, season two, and meeting her again is incredible, and so too is meeting her new blades.

When Ahsoka helps Kanan, Ezra, and Zeb rescue the Force-sensitive children by pulling out her gorgeous white lightsabers and taking the Seventh Sister and Fifth Brother to school, it is glorious.

2 Vs. Darth Vader

The inevitable duel between Vader and Ahsoka came in the season two finale and immediately established itself as one of the very best lightsaber scenes Star Wars had to offer.

We do not see the entire duel until season four as audiences look at Ezra’s point of view, but from Vader handily dealing with Ezra and getting challenged by Ahsoka to Vader walking out of the temple, it is ominous, somber, and excellent. The action, the quotes, the emotion, the storytelling, it is all perfect.

1 Vs. Maul

However, it is just not as perfect as the last lightsaber duel Star Wars fans got to see between Maul and Ahsoka in “The Phantom Apprentice.”

It is a battle that transcends animation. With the use of motion capture, the voice acting, the writing, and everything else pumped into the production, this duel quickly overtook many of the live-action contests in terms of superiority. It is not only Ahsoka’s greatest duel, as well as Mauls (yes, better than the Duel of the Fates). It is the best-animated lightsaber battle there is.
