Star Wars Holiday Special Event Teased For Galaxy’s Edge Theme Park

Star Wars-based holiday events are being potentially teased for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. One of the most anticipated attractions to arrive at the Disney theme parks in decades, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened early last year at Disneyland in California and later in 2019 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World. Galaxy’s Edge transports attendees to a galaxy far, far away but is designed around inspiration from real-world locations.

Infused with activities, impressive Easter Eggs, and nods to the Star Wars franchise, visitors can ride Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, build a lightsaber, drink Luke’s blue milk, and socialize with droids at Oga’s Cantina. Encompassing 14 acres of land, Galaxy’s Edge enthralls visitors with the immersive experience on the planet of Batuu called Black Spire Outpost. Galaxy’s Edge permits visitors to take a piece of the experience home with them, offering a plethora of souvenirs. Now, it appears Galaxy’s Edge at Disney World could host a series of upcoming special holiday events.

Per CinemaBlend, Disney has released the book Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge – Traveler’s Guide to Batuu. Narrated by the fictional author Eloc Throno, the titular travel guide hints at future holiday events for the land of Batuu. According to the book, Batuu hosts its own Harvest Festival. During this event, the Black Spire Outpost is adored in golden decorations, and Oga’s Cantina serves unique food and drink. In addition to Batuu’s Harvest Festival, the Black Spire Outpost also celebrates Life Day. Notably a Wookie holiday, Life Day was featured in the 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special. Life Day is a time for red decorations and Hoth chocolate, nodding to Christmas festivities.

Furthermore, the Traveler’s Guide highlights the most pivotal holiday to Star Wars fans: Black Spire Day, which is held on May the fourth. However, due to coronavirus concerns, Disneyland and Walt Disney World were both closed for the holiday this year, so guests may have to wait until next year to celebrate. As for Disney World, the theme park moved forward with reopening on July 11, despite a recent surge of COVID-19 cases in Florida. As it stands, Disney’s flagship theme park, Disneyland, remains closed until further notice.

Since Disney World has canceled Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party – and it remains to be seen what will happen with Christmas festivities – Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge could host the Harvest Festival and Life Day celebrations to spread some holiday cheer. Despite Disney theme parks experiencing closures, big plans lay ahead to immerse visitors into more franchise experiences. These include the Indiana Jones Adventure ride undergoing refurbishment, and the opening of Avengers Campus. Overall, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge remains an enjoyable experience for visitors to Disney’s theme parks.
