Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is joining EA Play (and by extension Xbox Game Pass) next week, on the release date of the Xbox Series X/S.

Xbox’s scarce selection of first-party titles has been well documented, as have its efforts to remedy the issue ahead of the launch of the Xbox Series X/S. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was a hit last year, thanks to its focus on being a truly single-player, story-driven Star Wars experience (starkly contrasting the newer Star Wars: Battlefront series). The action-adventure game was also knocked for its unoriginal story and performance bug but was otherwise well-received by a majority of players, and a next-gen remaster was certain.

This morning, EA tweeted that the game would be coming to its EA Play service on November 10, the same day that the Xbox Series X/S release. And, thanks to the aforementioned deal between EA and Xbox, this will also bring the game to Xbox’s Game Pass subscription service, which has also become a smashing success. For those unfamiliar with EA Play, EA’s tweet links to its website where it adds, “Members can access exclusive in-game challenges in select games and rewards, unlock special member-only content, play early trials of brand-new titles, and get instant access to a collection of our best-loved series and top titles. Plus, members also save on EA digital purchases, with a 10% member discount.”

Xbox has been noticeably proactive when it comes to adding new and classic games to Xbox Game Pass, and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is sure to be yet another popular addition to the service, following the addition of Rainbow Six: Siege a few weeks back. While Xbox’s heavy bet on its Game Pass service seems to largely be a worthwhile one, Xbox players who are not subscribed to it may notice the lack of first-party games for the console at launch.

This may or may not be a deal-breaker for prospective buyers who are still on the fence in terms of which console to buy at launch, but it is definitely something to keep an eye on as the holiday season approaches: Black Friday deals are usually how players purchase many games on their wishlists, but it is looking like there might not be the splash-hit title this time around. All that said, if Xbox players are content with using Game Pass until more games come along, then the arrival of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is another win to be celebrated.
