The main antagonist of the Super Paper Mario game, Dimentio is an evil jester who can manipulate dimensions and easily teleport. Seemingly a servant of the villain Count Bleck, he reveals his true intentions for power in the story’s final act.

With a brighter and more elaborate costume than the rest of the bad guys in the game, it is no wonder that Dimentio has inspired many cosplayers to put forth colorful depictions of him. Some follow the details of the character design to the letter, while others come up with their own interpretations. Either way, they capture the essence of this dastardly harlequin.

10 Simple Yet Effective

Due to the 2D nature of Super Paper Mario, cosplayers don’t have to go over the top in order to depict its characters. That is shown in the Dimentio costume featured by Sailor Touko667. While the design is not extremely elaborate, it captures the essence of both the villain and the game he originates from. The cosplayer nails both the pointy edges of Dimentio’s design and the sinister smile on his mask. They even strike a pose the trickster often takes during the game.

9 Charming Magician

Reddit user Billy Rubin puts forth a more feminine characterization of Dimentio with her cosplay. She mixes both 2D and 3D elements in her costume; while the headdress and the collar are flat, the face stands out by using makeup rather than a mask.

She uses a half-and-half effect to capture the face of Dimentio, with a bit of gold eyeshadow to make it stand out. The colors are vibrant throughout and the addition of a blonde curly wig adds a personal touch.

8 Renaissance Clown

Since Dimentio is dressed like a harlequin, it seems inevitable that some cosplayers depict him in a more historical fashion. That is the route that Reptile Restaurant chooses to take with their cosplay.

They take the mask that Dimentio wears and give it all the ornate decorations of the Venetian Renaissance, with intricate designs throughout and purple spikes lined with gold trim and bells. They also add glitter to Dimentio’s yellow and purple cape, as well as a golden chain on their shoulder.

7 Winter Magic

One of Dimentio’s many slightly nonsensical talents in Super Paper Mario is his ability to travel between dimensions. It can be assumed that he would end up in a snowy one, and the cosplay of Marco Elf shows how the magician would adapt to his surroundings.

While the overall shape of the design stays the same, some elements change in response to the cold. The original bright purple in his costume fades to a more wintry gray, while the previous flowing cape becomes a cozier shawl that is better suited for an arctic climate.

The wig matches the split between white and black that is captured in the mask, and the glowing yellow eye contacts capture Dimentio’s twisted nature. Instead of having pointed toes, the shoes are a more detailed pair of laced boots.

5 Halloween Harlequin

With such a mysterious and mischievous personality, it is suiting that Dimentio is represented during the time of Halloween. Masked Cheapskate takes advantage of the occasion with her cosplay. She opts to go the classical route with her costume, depicting Dimentio as a more traditional harlequin.

Instead of a full mask, she goes with a half mask decorated with black and purple feathers. The pants have an extra flair of golden buttons, while the boots have several buckles to stand out.

4 Peek-A-Boo

Photographer Joe Chavez presents a cosplayer who shows a creepier possibility of what is behind Dimentio’s mask. With black bangs sticking out, this Dimentio reveals a face that is pale white with a twisted black smile that sends chills down one’s spine.

The costume is exaggerated in many ways; the angles of the collar and the diamond brooch are longer and sharper, while the upper corners of the mask are extended to a more dramatic point. The design of this mask adds to the menacing sense to this interpretation of one of Mario’s toughest villains.

3 2D Circus

Reddit fan Master Dimentio 90 presents a cosplay that perfectly illustrates the 2D element of Super Paper Mario. The biggest element is the black and white mask, a large and accurate simulation of the original design.

Instead of the light purple in Dimentio’s cape, this costume uses a darker purple that borders on blue. While the headpiece usually alternates between dark and light colors, this one is a solid dark front with yellow points in the back. The posture shows the massive ego that Dimentio has.

2 Clown of a Different Color

The standard colors of the Dimentio costume are purple and light yellow. However, cosplayer Albert Weitz decides to change up the palette with his design. The purple in the cloak and the hat take on a darker shade, while the golden hues are changed to silver.

There is even a pink point at the top of the antagonist’s crown. Other than the shift in color, this cosplay very closely emulates Dimentio, even demonstrating his tendencies to be sneaky around the other characters.

1 Master of Dimensions

What makes this Dimentio cosplay photographed by Joe Chavez stand out is how accurately it depicts the original design of the character. The black and white mask is almost an exact replica of what’s depicted in the Super Paper Mario game. The shade of purple in the headpiece may be much darker, but the diamonds at the tips are an excellent detail.

The purple in the cape is not a solid color but takes on an ombre effect, just like it does during gameplay. It is as if Dimentio has made his way into our world.
