The Fire Emblem franchise adds 8 new characters to the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate universe, and many fans are even wondering why so many of Smash’s characters have been inspired by Fire Emblem. All these fighters are equipped with unique moves and combos and are of varying strength, each with its own weaknesses.

Nevertheless, some manage to perform better than the others and have risen to the top of Smash’s meta, with many players considering them as some of the best fighters in the game. On the other hand, others have had more mediocre fighting kits and players are slightly more hesitant to pick them. In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, speed and consistency are vital traits for fighters, and those who have them from Fire Emblem really manage to outshine the others.

8 Marth

Marth is one of the most controversial characters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. He has great attacks and combos and is one of the most mobile characters in the game. His edge guarding is solid and his tipper moves can lead to some early kills. However, his setback is consistency.

He has all these amazing tools, but he can’t utilize them often enough in order to be considered consistent. If Marth was more consistent on his moves, he would be considered by most players a top-tier character.

7 Robin

Robin is one of the characters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate that favor projectile-based gameplay. His strength is his exceptionally strong ranged attacks which can deal heavy damage from a long range. His move that stands out is Levin Sword, which offers great damage and knockback, and is included as his finishing move.

Nevertheless, his setback is the need to use ammo for shooting projectiles, and this can often lead to the player doing a solid combo and in the end not having enough ammo to get the kill confirm. This inconsistency at times is what makes Robin a mediocre fighter in this game.

6 Byleth

Byleth was one of the Fire Emblem characters that fans weren’t pleased with his Super Smash Bros. Ultimate adaptation, but due to some recent buffs, he has become a solid fighter. He offers a great kill potential with some high damage moves like forward smash and back air as well as up-b, which was buffed and became a faster move.

Nevertheless, just like most Smash’s mediocre tier characters, his main setback is his slow speed, which opponents can easily take advantage of to come out on top.

5 Corrin

Corrin is also one of the controversial characters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Her kit allows her to dish high damage through great combos, and combined with her sword which gives her a bigger attack range than most other fighters, Corrin is a force to be reckoned with.

On top of those, she packs one of the highest kill potentials in the entire game. Nevertheless, her main issue, which is a huge setback in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, is her mediocre speed and recovery. Although definitely a great character, she struggles versus quicker fighters who can take advantage of her weaknesses.

4 Ike

Ike’s kit allows him to shine in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. He packs one of the greatest recoveries compared to other sword users, and his sword makes hitting opponents much easier due to the long reach of his attacks. Also, he has great aerial moves, and solid anti-aerial tools that allow him to set the pace in each game.

However, his drawback is his mediocre recovery and low defense. The positive side is that only a few characters can take advantage of it, but when they do, due to Ike’s low defense, they will probably kill him. He struggles on certain matchups but manages to shine on most of them.

3 Chrom

Chrom is considered a top-tier character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and one of the best characters to play, primarily due to his especially strong neutral attacks. Further to that, he has great airspeed and especially powerful kill potential, which can make him dangerous if he manages to get ahead on board.

However, his main setback is his poor recovery which can make it hard for him to regain board control if the opponent gets ahead. Nevertheless, if played carefully in regards to his weakness, Chrom can be one of the strongest characters in the game.

2 Roy

Roy is thought of as a slightly improved version of Chrom due to having solid recovery. He also packs great attacks with jab back air and side b that allow him to stack high damage quickly, and combined with his great mobility, most players consider him one of the best characters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

On top of that, his kit allows him to consistently deal with some of the top-tier characters like Zero-Suit Samus and Peach. However, his main setback is that he struggles against zoning characters who utilize a lot of projectile attacks.

1 Lucina

Lucina is considered by most as one of the strongest characters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, primarily because of how solid her whole kit is. Although her playstyle doesn’t utilize combos, she can deal significant damage with only a few quick attacks.

Further to that, her edge guarding is top-notch and her neutral attacks can be a great threat. Her only weakness, similar to Roy, is projectile-based characters that can easily zone her out.
