NBC delayed the Superstore season 6 premiere by one week. Created by Justin Spitzer, Superstore follows a group of oddball employees who work at Cloud 9 store 1217, a discount warehouse store in St. Louis, Missouri. Earlier this year, America Ferrera, who stars in the series as store manager Amy Sosa, announced she would exit the series at the end of season 5. However, amid coronavirus concerns, production halted on Superstore season 5, which delayed Ferrera’s farewell. Originally slated for October 22, Superstore’s season 6 premiere has been postponed.

Per TVLine, NBC has delayed Superstore season 6 by one week to Thursday, October 29. Reportedly, Superstore season 6 will incorporate the coronavirus pandemic into the plotline and pick up after the season 5 cliffhanger, which revealed the outbreak had delayed Amy and Jonah’s (Ben Feldman) relocation to California. Additionally, the return of season 6 will mark the sitcom’s landmark 100th episode, expected to air November 5 – which will also serve as Ferrera’s farewell episode.

Superstore season 6 will feature various time jumps and focus on the characters navigating the hurdles of panicking customers, new rules, being deemed essential workers at Cloud 9, and bidding farewell to store manager Amy.
