Peacock announced the main cast for its upcoming Ted show.

Beyond Seth MacFarlane reprising his role as the titular foul-mouthed bear, the Ted prequel series has added three new cast members to its roster. The show will feature Giorgia Whigham (The Punisher, 13 Reasons Why), Max Burkholder (Parenthood) and Scott Grimes (Oppenheimer, The Orville) all as series regulars. Beyond starring in the show, MacFarlane will also serve as an executive producer and writer on Ted alongside Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh (Modern Family). The creative team will also include Erica Huggins, Alana Kleiman and Jason Clark and will be developed by MacFarlane’s studio Fuzzy Door. While a release date is still unknown, fans can expect the series first season to consist of 10 episodes.

Alongside the casting announcement, Peacock also unveiled a brief synopsis of Ted, providing fans with their first hint at the show’s story. Set in 1993, the series will follow the titular bear after his moment in the spotlight has passed, pushing him to move in with his best-friend, 16-year-old John Bennett. “Ted may not be the best influence on John, but when it comes right down to it, Ted’s willing to go out on a limb to help his friend and his family,” reads the show’s official description.

“Seth has a superpower of creating fandoms and Ted is a shining example of his ability to create beloved characters that we can’t get enough of,” NBCUniversal Entertainment Content chairman Susan Rovner said when Ted was first ordered to series. “We are so lucky to bring this project to Peacock viewers who will have an opportunity to see their favorite foul-mouthed teddy bear once again.”

Created by MacFarlane, Ted is still highest grossing original R-rated comedy of all time with the original movie and its sequel pulling in $750 million worldwide. The film chronicles the struggles of an older John Bennett (Mark Wahlberg) who struggles to juggle living a normal life with being friends with an obnoxious teddy bear brought to life by a childhood wish. Released in 2012, Ted earned mixed reviews from critics who found the film’s overal story to be cliche and familiar. Despite this, an original core concept and a sharp script helped elevate the film as it went on to earn a dedicated cult following.

The Ted series does not yet have a release date.
