This 2013 romantic drama, directed by David Lowery, is rated at 6.4 by reviewers on IMDb. Ain’t Them Bodies Saints follows an outlaw, Casey Affleck, who travels across the entirety of Texas to search for his wife, Rooney Mara, and daughter who he hasn’t been able to meet yet because he has been in prison.

The movie has little action and instead concentrates on the relationship formed between the two prisoners and their journey from prison to escaping and what happens in the aftermath.

Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, 2012’s The Master stars Joaquin Phoenix as a veteran who is trying to assimilate to society after fighting in the second world war. He finds solace in a cult where he’s able to freely release his emotions and becomes more and more embroiled within the group.
Rami Malek is part of the group and doesn’t have a starring role, but The Master has pretty good reviews and the acting is one of the main reasons for this.
2 Short Term 12 (8.0)
This 2013 drama, written and directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, is rated at 8.0 by reviewers on IMDb. Short Term 12 follows a group of counselors, led by Brie Larson, and residents of a foster care facility.
Rami Malek’s character enters as a new counselor trying to learn the ins and outs of the facility and be able to handle tense situations posed by the job. The movie is dramatic, engaging, and definitely worth a watch.

This 2018 dramatic biographical music-filled movie, directed by Bryan Singer, sits with a respectable 8.0 on IMDb. Bohemian Rhapsody follows the story of the band Queen, specifically Freddie Mercury (Rami Malek), from their formation to their iconic performance at Live Aid.
It’s clear that Malek put a lot of work and heart into the role and earned himself an Academy Award for the portrayal. Bohemian Rhapsody is a good balance of fun and drama with a great soundtrack playing throughout. Definitely worth a watch.
