With the many films and TV shows that premiered in 2021 also came a handful of actors and actresses that have garnered a devoted fan base throughout the years. While there is an abundance of fan-favorites such as Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Tom Holland, Hannah Waddingham, among others, not everyone made the cut this year.
Audiences’ favorite stars displayed a range of emotions on screen. From action sequences and sarcastic comedy to murder mysteries, fantastical worlds, and period pieces, these actors and actresses prove to be at the top of their game with no indication of slowing down, no matter what type of film they featured in.
10 Lily James
Actress Lily James made her debut in the acclaimed PBS drama Downton Abbey. Her career took off after her starring role in Disney’s live-action Cinderella. Since then, the actress has enjoyed a myriad of lead roles, from Donna Sheridan in Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!, to Debora in Oscar-nominated Baby Driver and Ellie in Richard Curtis’ rom-com Yesterday.
Most recently, she gave life to Rebecca (from Daphne Du Maurier’s novel) and Linda Radlett in the BBC’s The Pursuit of Love. The versatility she has shown in her relatively young career, from drama to comedy and from period pieces to action films, is what has catapulted her to become one of the “It” girls in Hollywood and a promising serious actress. Soon, audiences will get to see her as Pamela Anderson in Hulu’s mini-series Pam & Tommy, which will show James in a whole new light.
