The Bachelor Has a ‘Graveyard’ for Engagement Rings from Crumbled Relationships

If you’ve ever wondered what happens to all those engagement rings from broken Bachelor Nation relationships, The Bachelorette’s Becca Kufrin has the answer. Since the large majority of engagements from the Bachelor franchise come to an end, fans have often wondered what happens to those beautiful bands. In a recent interview, the once-brokenhearted Bachelor contestant revealed that ABC has a very special place for all the scorned rings.

Becca Kufrin first appeared on Arie Luyendyk Jr.’s season of The Bachelor. Although Arie seemed deeply torn between Becca and runner-up Lauren Burnham, he ended his relationship with Lauren in the final episode, choosing to propose to Becca instead. In the After the Final Rose special, however, Arie shifted his otherwise boring season into new territory. He broke up with Becca on camera and explained that he was still in love with Lauren. Arie and Lauren went on to get married and have a child, while Becca became The Bachelorette. She’s currently still engaged to the winner of her season, Garret Yrigoyen. An expert in broken Bachelor relationships, Becca would know better than anyone what happens to the engagement rings.

During a recent episode of the Bachelor Party podcast (via: Us Weekly), the topic of broken engagements came up. “I will say there is a ring graveyard,” Becca said. “They get to keep [them] all locked away, hidden from [everyone], all the scorned rings.” Although Becca gave her ring back to Arie after he broke up with her, the former Bachelorette also explained that neither member of the couple gets to keep their engagement ring. Instead, they have to surrender the band back to the custody of the show’s producers. Becca said she once suggested they auction off the breakup rings, since it sounds like the scorned bands simply sit there and collect dust.

Although Becca didn’t get her happily ever after with Arie, Kufrin and fiancé Garrett seem happy together. After their season wrapped, the couple moved into a home together in Carlsbad, California. “We’ve been traveling quite a bit. It took a while for me to feel like this is home, but I’m finally getting settled and we just added a dog,” Kufrin said to Us Weekly in September. While the pair are in no rush to get married, they fully plan on buying a house together and starting their wedding planning sometime in the future. Until then, Becca will host the Bachelor: Live on Stage show with fellow alum Ben Higgins next year.

The scorned engagement rings are a big topic in Bachelor Nation. Although it’s difficult to imagine that they simply sit there unused, Kufrin’s statements make it clear that’s exactly what happens. While few people want a ring from a broken engagement, there has to be a better use for them. Auctioning them off to eager Bachelor Nation fans would certainly serve a better purpose than allowing them to collect dust. While it may seem a little insensitive to the broken relationship, it’s still better than simply locking them away, never to be seen again.
