Considering the main cast of The Big Bang Theory are mostly quite young and have had a lot of their acting careers engulfed by the huge success, financial power and 12-season run-time of the show, there hasn’t been a lot of time for appearances elsewhere in the media.

12 Johnny Galecki

In an interesting turn of events, the man who plays Leonard Hofstadter in The Big Bang Theory actually got his big break as a child. He stars, almost unrecognizably, as one of the children in Chevy Chase’s National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation back in 1989.

11 Jim Parsons

Jim Parsons may have ended up becoming a global superstar as a result of play the undeniable best character and lead role in The Big Bang Theory, but he is managing to avoid typecasting by gaining lead roles in more serious pictures.

His highest rating comes from his role in Hidden Figures, the story of three black mathematicians who were incredibly important to NASA’s space program.

10 Kaley Cuoco

At the moment (considering it is rather new and so far doesn’t have a ton of ratings) Kaley Cuoco’s IMDb reflects her impressive performance as the titular character in Harley Quinn. The animated show puts a face we typically associate to Margot Robbie at the front of the action.

9 Simon Helberg

The character of Howard was one of the most developed and heart-warming things about The Big Bang Theory. He moved from a crass, sex-obsessed young man into a family-oriented and professional father over the course of twelve seasons. He doesn’t have a particularly packed filmography, so the role that comes second to The Big Bang Theory is an appearance as Jeff on Arrested Development.

8 Kunal Nayyar

Contrasting his shy, awkward personality on screen as Raj with a suave coolness in real life, Kunal Nayyar very likely has an impressive career ahead of him. At the moment, his most successful major role outside of the show comes from Ice Age: Continental Drift in 2012.

Interestingly, before landing the role as Amy in The Big Bang Theory, Mayim Bialik was actually referenced in the show for playing the titular role in Blossom and also having a PHD. Impressive.

5 Sara Gilbert

Sara Gilbert played the recurring character of Leslie Winkle in the first few seasons of Big Bang Theory (with a cameo return later on). Her brilliant appearance as one of Bart’s many love interests, Laura Powers, in The Simpsons is what gets her her biggest IMDb average.

4 Kevin Sussman

Stuart was always present in the world of The Big Bang Theory, even if no one cared that much. He started the show out as a lonely comic book store owner, but eventually worked his way into the group and achieved a role as one of the main cast by the end.

His back-to-back appearances in the George Clooney-starring ER are what tops his list.

3 Laura Spencer

By the final few seasons, Raj had finally managed to find himself a girlfriend. After years of not being able to talk to women, it was nice to see him finally having succeeded. Laura Spencer plays Emily to perfection, but is most known for role in the comedy-crime-drama Bones.

While The Big Bang Theory is known for attaining a wealth of incredible celebrity guests, there is only one who plays a recurring version of himself.

Will Wheaton plays Will Wheaton in the show, meaning everything from Stand By Me to Star Trek exists in their universe, and he is still in them all. In fact, it is Stand By Me (in which he was a young boy) that gets the top rating for Wheaton outside of The Big Bang Theory.

Sitting on years and years of incredible roles that have spanned half of the 20th century and a good portion of the 21st, Bob Newhart’s appearances in The Big Bang Theory as Professor Proton are legendary. He is one of the few actors from the show most known from his other ventures, with IMDb favoring The Bob Newhart Show the most.
