There’s no doubt that Sheldon has gone through a dramatic transformation from season one all the way through to season 12 of The Big Bang Theory and has many ups and downs with the characters along the way. However, not everybody thinks this is a good thing.

Some of Sheldon’s most iconic traits are his quirkiness, his IQ, and his complete cluelessness when it comes to interacting with others, bu,t for some fans, these are his worst traits. Unpopular opinions have also developed around the web regarding who Sheldon should have ended up with instead of Amy.

9 Sheldon And Amy Are The Best Couple

Throughout all the couple’s on the show, it would seem fair to assume that Leonard and Penny come out on top in almost every way right? Maybe not.

Reddit User Ananiaaa has provided their two cents on the matter, and they believe Sheldon and Amy, dubbed ‘Shamy’ by Penny, are the best couple. Granted, the couple combined were indeed smarter than Penny and Leonard, and the fact that Sheldon seemed like the last person to get into a relationship made it more impactful when he did start dating.

8 Sheldon’s Regression

The producers on the show did a great job of showing Sheldon’s character development throughout the show. With many great burns and blank expressions, Sheldon then developed into a loving and caring individual as the show went on.

However, Reddit user Sunblade10 states that Sheldon actually started off far more likable and got worse as the show progressed, as, in the beginning, Sheldon actually was actually more willing to learn and grow as a person than the version of Sheldon later on.

7 Sheldon Had A Better Relationship With Penny Than Leonard Did

Again, it would seem fair that Leonard and Penny had the greatest relationship out of everyone on the show—perhaps except Raj and Howard—but Reddit user ARgirlinaFLworld has argued that Penny and Sheldon had a much healthier relationship.

Even though Leonard and Penny certainly had their ups and downs, that is the nature of being a couple. Couples argue a lot more than friends do, meaning that Sheldon was simply a great friend of Penny’s.

6 Sheldon Was The Least Intelligent

There are numerous times that Sheldon has boasted about his 187 IQ, reminding fans that he is the smartest. Reddit user Towall provided a different viewpoint and believes that Sheldon is, in fact, the least intelligent of the group.

Could one really be that smart if they don’t know who Radiohead is? There are multiple times that Sheldon has been wrong or blissfully unaware of the social impact of his actions. He is certainly the least street smart, and, if one is hardly street smart, can they really be the most intelligent?

5 Sheldon And Penny Should Have Ended Up Together

Fans were amazed when Raj and Howard managed to find someone for Sheldon, and it turned out to essentially be an exact female version of him in Amy Farrah Fowler. Was this the woman Sheldon was always destined to be with? Perhaps not. Reddit user throwing_havingdoubts states that Sheldon and Penny should have ended up together.

The irony of Leonard and Penny’s relationship was that a nerdy, unpopular guy like Leonard ended up with someone like Penny who is in every way, the opposite of her. However, it would have been even more shocking if Penny ended up with Sheldon, who is even more different to her than Leonard is. That being said, the fact that Sheldon was so clueless in relationships would have made him a nonsensical fit for Penny. At least Leonard could be a normal human being around women.

4 Sheldon Isn’t Quirky

With quirkiness being one of Sheldon’s many great traits amongst the fandom, there are times when it can just be annoying. This is exactly the opinion of Reddit user Toxicfriend, who says that Sheldon is simply annoying.

In a real-life setting, Sheldon would be an unbearable person to be around due to his constant putting down of those around him. However, Sheldon’s personality is all simply part of the show.

3 Sheldon Is The Least Funny TV Character

Sheldon has had many hilarious and iconic moments, or in his words, “Bazinga’s”, but humour is very subjective, and what one person finds hilarious another person may find outright irritating. Reddit user SinisterEllis has said that, even in the context of the show, Sheldon’s comedy falls flat, and it’s definitely a sentiment held by a small but very present subset of Big Bang Theory’s community.

2 Sheldon Went Downhill After Dating Amy

Since Amy Farrah Fowler was introduced, it began Sheldon’s slow development into a more normal person. As the show went on, he became far more empathetic and caring, and he went from someone who would never date to someone who couldn’t imagine his life without Amy.

Reddit user Classified12345 has the opinion that, after dating Amy, Sheldon’s character became less and less of what made him so funny and different in the first few seasons. Sheldon’s uniqueness made him likable, and, even though Amy was introduced to normalize Sheldon, it took away the parts of his personality that drew fans to like him.

1 Shamy Makes No Sense

Sheldon has slated the field of biology many times throughout the show and has also said that he has enough friends, so what is the need for more?

Reddit user Wigglytail argues that Sheldon and Amy’s relationship makes no sense on these grounds. They also mention that, other than a general love for science, they have very few interests. However, they also state that Amy is understanding and caring towards Sheldon, which is maybe what he was looking for in a girlfriend.
