One of the forefront members of The Big Bang Theory, Rajesh Koothrapali, known for his lack of ability to talk to women sober and his classic one-liners, has not always used these traits for good. There have been times when Raj has come out with some fairly insulting lines, but more often than not, they are warranted.

Raj is no stranger to insulting Sheldon, but there are also times when he uses an insult that only he would use and not feel an ounce of guilt, especially if he’s had a drink or two beforehand, which completely destroys any tiny shred of a filter he may have had left.

10 “[Stuart] Believes In Himself. Even Though The Whole World Has Made It Clear He Should Not.”

When Stuart’s comic book shop is struggling for sales, Raj tries to offer him some friendly advice by saying: “Stuart’s struggling financially. But he doesn’t let that get him down. He believes in himself. Even though the whole world has made it clear he should not.”

This seems to be a result of Raj’s filter or lack thereof. It’s not always Sheldon that gets the brunt of Raj’s insults, but that doesn’t change the level of savagery and bluntness of his words.

9 “A Shiny Sheldon”

In season 2 episode 21, “The Vegas Renormalization,” the gang are sitting in Sheldon and Leonard’s apartment playing a game of “20 Questions.” It turns out that Leonard is thinking of C3-PO from Star Wars and when Raj figures it out, he confirms his theory with one final question: “Do you kind of look like a shiny Sheldon?” Leonard correctly answers, “Yes.”

Even though fans are sure Sheldon doesn’t mind resembling a character from Star Wars, it’s still a light, albeit funny, burn of his friend.

8 “Big Talk From A Man Who Was Once Treed By A Chicken.”

The direction of Raj’s insults towards Sheldon continues in season 3 episode 2, “The Jiminy Conjecture,” in which Sheldon retells the story of the time his neighbor’s chicken got loose and chased him up a tree in his backyard. After Sheldon reassures Howard that he could beat him in physical combat, Raj casually reminds the gang that Sheldon was chased up a tree by a chicken.

Sheldon isn’t aware that this is a burn, as he believes chickens are actually fairly ferocious creatures, but fans can be assured that Leonard and Howard appreciate the burn all the same.

7 “With Your American Accent, Everything You Say Sounds Stupid.”

In season 3 episode 8, “The Adhesive Duck Deficiency,” Leonard, Howard and Raj go on a camping trip that goes horribly wrong, leaving Sheldon to care for an injured Penny. While the three are round the campfire, Leonard comments on how the stars and the meteors look pretty, and Raj tells Leonard that American accents make everything sound stupid.

Maybe it was the starvation on the camping trip, but Raj still managed to insult the accents of his two present friends at the same time.

6 “I Think You Were Mean Before You Were Pregnant, But It’s Fine.”

In season 10 episode 3 “The Dependence Transcendence,” Bernadette and Raj are getting the house ready for the birth of Howard and Bernadette’s baby, but Bernadette gets frustrated with Raj. After she tries to blame it on the pregnancy hormones, Raj reveals that she always thought Bernadette was mean, even before she was pregnant.

This is another example of Raj’s brutal lines said to someone’s face. It’s safe to say that if anyone said this in the real world, it might cause some tension between friends.

5 “He’s Tall, Pale And Awkward. That Sounds Like Your Type.”

In season 7 episode 13, “The Occupation Recalibration,” Amy seemingly has a new boyfriend, Bert, who she is adamant isn’t actually her boyfriend, but Raj thinks otherwise. When Amy reassures Raj that she and Bert aren’t together, Raj responds with “Really? He’s tall, pale and awkward. That sounds like your type.”

Not only did Raj base this off of Sheldon, therefore calling his friend “tall, pale and awkward,” he also manages to insult Amy and her taste in men.

4 “Billionaire With Wings”

In season 2 episode 23 “The Monopolar Expedition,” Leonard, Raj and Howard are considering a trip to the North Pole to work on an experiment and are weighing the pros and cons when Raj says: “Well, I’m a Hindu. My religion teaches that if we suffer in this life, we are rewarded in the next. Three months at the North Pole with Sheldon and I’m reborn as a well-hung billionaire with wings.”

Even though Sheldon wasn’t there to hear this, and fans wish he was, Raj is essentially suggesting, based on the reward, that spending that much time with Sheldon is the worst thing a human can endure.

3 “The Heart Wants What The Heart Wants, Or In This Case, Doesn’t”

In season 6 episode 11, “The Santa Simulation,” Raj joins Penny, Bernadette and Amy for a girls’ night in which Raj reveals to Amy that, at one point, he had feelings for Penny and Bernadette. When Amy feels slightly lett out, she asks Raj if he ever had feelings for her, to which he replies, “Nope” three times, despite the other girls trying to persuade him into lying on Amy’s behalf.

Raj responds with: “The heart wants what the heart wants, or in this case, doesn’t.” This is probably one of Raj’s most brutal burns but, due to the alcohol, he doesn’t even see how hurtful this is to Amy.

2 “Maybe Your Baby’s Just A Jerk”

In season 10 episode 12 “The Holiday Summation,” Howard and Bernadette’s baby, Halley, makes her debut, and it’s safe to say that the two new parents are struggling to cope with their new life. As Halley won’t stop crying, Bernadette sits confused and upset about what she is doing wrong as Raj suggests, “Maybe your baby’s just a jerk?”

Even though the couple took the line as comedic, there’s only one thing worse than insulting a mother to her face, and that’s insulting her own baby to her face.

1 “Say Cousin”

In season 3 episode 8, when Raj, Leonard and Howard are sitting delusional around the campfire on their camping trip, Howard reveals that he lost his virginity to his cousin, Genie. In season 8 episode 8 “The Prom Equivalency,” the gang recreate their missed prom experiences and Raj takes it upon himself to take photos of the couples in the show. With Penny, Leonard, Amy and Sheldon, he asks them to “say cheese” and smile for the camera, but when it gets to Howard and Bernadette, Raj tells Howard to “Say cousin!”

After five seasons, when most of the gang probably forgot about Howard’s unfortunate situation, Raj decides to bring up this shameful moment from Howard’s past on what was supposed to be a great recreation of a missed high school opportunity.
