The Book Of Boba Fett unveiled its first teaser trailer, and while it didn’t give away much about the upcoming Disney+ streaming series, it did trigger an avalanche of reactions on Twitter. Most of them have been highly enthusiastic, some speculative, and others leveraged some popular memes to great effect to showcase excitement for the show.

With Boba Fett taking over Jabba The Hutt’s criminal empire in a galaxy far, far away, the teaser trailer evoked a lot of connections to other major criminal underworld franchises in movies and TV. It remains to be seen how close the show will echo iconic series like The Sopranos, but Twitter already has connected the dots for the infamous bounty hunter.

10 Who Wore It Better?

Returning from certain death and becoming a crime lord–who wore it better? #TheBookOfBobaFett pic.twitter.com/hwpW1r7xPA

This tweet from user @eleventhirtyate asks who wore the role of criminal underworld boss better – Boba Fett or Darth Maul? In doing so, they make an intriguing point about the similarity between Fett and Darth Maul, one of the best Star Wars prequel trilogy characters. Both Maul and Fett died on screen, only to be resurrected in comics and then later in canon material.

Both also came back from the dead to lead vast criminal organizations. With Maul, it was Crimson Dawn and with Fett, it’s Jabba The Hutt’s powerful cartel. Maul’s story could also possibly foretell Fett’s ultimate destiny.

9 Will Bossk Appear?

Could the appearance of Trandoshans mean that we will see Bossk?#TheBookOfBobaFett pic.twitter.com/pPXjQ5QwGb

@PassionOfFett wonders if the appearance of Trandoshans in the teaser predicts the appearance of Bossk, and it’s an excellent point of speculation. Bossk is one of the most intimidating bounty hunters in all of Star Wars and closely connected to Boba Fett in the eyes of fans thanks to their appearance in one of the best scenes in The Empire Strikes Back.

While not visible in the trailer, Bossk is likely not too far out of range for Boba Fett or Fennec Shand. The ruthless bounty hunter may be one of many who cross paths with Fett as he consolidates power in the underworld.

The teaser is all about Boba Fett carving out his territory among the gangsters of a galaxy far, far away, and that drew immediate comparisons to movies like The Godfather. @mattyhugh created a great meme that transforms Tony Soprano from The Sopranos into Boba Fett. The comparison might be apt, given Fett is powerful but isn’t beyond the reach of other powerful forces.

Tony Soprano claims to be miserable in the tweet, and while Boba Fett may not exactly fall into the same headspace as the head of the Soprano crime family, he can have some pretty miserable moments as his enemies well know.

7 Hitting The Play Button

@JosephScrimshaw captures a still from the teaser to reflect his excitement for The Book of Boba Fett. The tweet is perfect as it captures a helmetless Boba Fett in all his wild abandon as he bashes a bad guy (or good guy, it remains to be seen) with their staff-like weapon. He does it repeatedly, as many fans did with the trailer.

The trailer was pretty short and featured a lot of great moments, so it made sense that fans would hit repeat early and often with the first look at the show, which will debut at the very end of December on Disney+.

6 You Are Too Hot Right Now

Sir, you are too hot right now. I’m going to have to ask you to leave. ๐Ÿ’š #TheBookOfBobaFett pic.twitter.com/g9Q7aNPU5Y

@BlueJaigEyes voices what a lot of fans were probably thinking after watching the trailer. Boba Fett is iconic for his helmet, but actor Temuera Morrison is changing the terms of the deal in the new trailer. Morrison spends a fair amount of time outside the helmet in the trailer, giving fans of the actor a lot of reason to be happy.

Boba Fett becoming a heartthrob is an unexpected development in Star Wars fandom, but it’s a very avid one given the number of tweets and reactions centering on his attractiveness.

5 BFFS

When u realize the initials of Boba Fett and Fennec Shand put together is bffs ๐Ÿค  #TheBookOfBobaFett pic.twitter.com/TI8XhewyLv

@clonehumor has a great tweet pointing out something most fans likely didn’t notice at all. They highlighted the fact that initials of both Boba Fett and Fennec Shand work out to be BFFs, short of course for ‘Best Friends Forever.’ This is a great catch, as the teaser makes clear how tightly connected both Fett and Shand are.

Fennec Shand is Boba Fett’s primary enforcer in the series, and thanks to her appearances in The Mandalorian and The Bad Batch, has quickly become one of the most intimidating bounty hunters in Star Wars.

4 All of Us After Watching

@spoiler4you uses a great meme from The Office to show their love of the new teaser. By superimposing the faces of Fennec Shand and Boba Fett over characters from the classic comedy, the tweet shares how much they love the duo in the teaser. Shand and Fett are always at each other’s side in the teaser, suggesting their professional connection, and perhaps more.

While there was nothing in the trailer to suggest a romance, there was a brief shot of the two at night on a balcony in Jabba’s palace. Perhaps the two will grow even fonder of each other in the series.

3 Crimson Dawn Is Coming

iโ€™m confident after the events of war of the bounty hunters this is CRIMSON DAWN coming to settle the score with boba fett oh my GOD I CANโ€™T WAIT #TheBookofBobaFett pic.twitter.com/X8puhfXt5z

@mcuwaititi latches onto one of the most intriguing moments of the teaser trailer to speculate on the possible appearance of Crimson Dawn. The tweet captures numerous stills from the trailer showcasing a number of attackers in red outfits wielding red energy shields. The crimson aspect of these characters suggests a possible connection to the criminal outfit.

An appearance by Crimson Dawn isn’t out of the question given Boba Fett is making waves in the underworld. He also has connections to them, recently showcased in the War Of The Bounty Hunters crossover in the comics. If this is Crimson Dawn, then it’s also possible Qi’ra makes an appearance as well.

2 How It Started / How It’s Going

How it started / how it’s going has become a popular meme and @samefel26 uses it to highlight a wonderful fact about Ming-Na Wen, who plays Fennec Shand. The tweet charts the journey of Wen from a member of a science fiction club to a member of the Star Wars universe as a major new character in The Book Of Boba Fett.

Ming-Na Wen has become associated with a number of great franchises, including both the original Mulan animated movie and its live-action remake and the MCU, in Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.

1 Dreams Come True

Proof that EVERYONE can make their dreams come true.๐Ÿงก So dream big and then work your ass off to make it happen.๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ https://t.co/0f8HYEhqEp

One of the best tweets in reaction to the trailer was from Ming-Na Wen herself. She retweeted @samfel26’s tweet and commented on how dreams do come true. It’s a great message for fans, whether their ambition is to become part of the franchises they love as she did, or whether’s the hope fan-favorite characters like Boba Fett ultimately return.

The Book Of Boba Fett is a milestone for many fans who longed to see Boba Fett return to a galaxy far, far away in some way, and clearly, for many of the actors involved, it’s a labor of love.
