A new trailer for HBO’s The Gilded Age reveals more of the upcoming period drama series from Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes. Promising to explore an era of immense economic change and great conflict on several fronts, The Gilded Age begins in 1882 as the young Marian Brook (played by Louisa Jacobson) moves from rural Pennsylvania to New York City after the death of her father to live with wealthy aunts Agnes van Rhijn (Christine Baranski) and Ada Brook (Cynthia Nixon). Accompanied by an aspiring writer that’s also looking for a fresh start, Marian finds herself unwittingly drawn into a social war between several moneyed individuals.

A previous teaser for The Gilded Age teased the show’s driving focus of “old money” competing against “new money.” The full trailer, revealed by HBO, delves deeper into that conflict and lingers on the show’s star-studded cast. Check out the trailer below.

The Gilded Age is set to premiere on Monday, January 24 at 9 PM ET on HBO. It will also be available to stream on HBO Max. Along with Jacobson, Baranski, and Nixon, the cast of the nine-part drama includes Carrie Coon, Morgan Spector, Denée Benton, Taissa Farmiga, Blake Ritson, Simon Jones, Harry Richardson, Thomas Cocquerel, Jack Gilpin, Jeanne Tripplehorn, and Nathan Lane.

Fellowes, who pens episodes of The Gilded Age, is also looking ahead to the Downton Abbey film sequel.
