The Mandalorian Every Main Character Ranked By Likability

The world of Star Wars is filled with thousands upon thousands of characters, both good and evil, well-written and poorly developed, likable and loathsome. Disney+’s The Mandalorian, therefore, is no exception to this fact. As the first live-action television venture for the beloved franchise, The Mandalorian faced high expectations from the very beginning, and in large part, met them easily.

With a strong cast of core characters, the series was able to find its footing early on. Though some supporting characters are no doubt less interesting or less likable than the major players, The Mandalorian’s central crew nevertheless stands out as some of the galaxy’s finest – both good and bad.

Updated on July 3rd, 2021 by Matthew Wilkinson: Something that the series does a terrific job at is showcasing the complex personalities that characters can have. The show isn’t black and white in the sense that everyone is either a hero or a villain, with people having clear flaws and their own personal dilemmas to deal with.

It’s something that makes the series intriguing and allows everybody to have different favorite characters. Whether it’s someone who appears to help Din Djarin just once, or a character that is around for a long time, just about everyone makes their presence felt, with some being more likable than others and becoming the best Mandalorian characters in the process.

10 Honorable Mention: The Armorer

One of the series’ more enigmatic characters, The Armorer is perhaps also one of its most valuable. As a fellow member of the Mandalorian clan, The Armorer is one of Din Djarin’s closest connections to his old way of life.

She imparts valuable words of wisdom to him on multiple occasions, including the formal decree that he and Grogu are a clan of two and must stay together until he has carried out his assignment. She’s also shown to be quite the formidable fighter, taking on an army of Empire soldiers all on her own.

9 Moff Gideon

Moff Gideon is a fearsome villain that fans are practically foaming at the mouth with anticipation to learn more about. Masterfully portrayed by Giancarlo Esposito, the relic of the Empire is clearly a character with staying power which has allowed audiences to become invested in him.

He’s powerful and ruthless, and the back and forth battle that he has with Din Djarin’ in the second season is one of the best fights in the show. While he isn’t the most likable due to the fact he is the villain of this Star Wars series, his character is gripping and that makes him intriguing to audiences.

8 Cara Dune

Cara Dune is a badass. A strong fighter hailing from Alderaan, she’s a formidable foe or a powerful ally for anyone, depending on which side you’re fighting for, and that instantly makes her a likable character.

But beyond those qualities, not much is known about Cara. The element of mystery around her helps to make Cara quite a likable member of the show because people always want to know more. She also helps Din Djarin several times with her sheer power proving to be useful.

7 Ahsoka Tano

Adding a Jedi into the show was a decision that audiences approved of, and because Ahsoka Tano is so different from everybody else, she instantly stands out. While her individual personality isn’t highlighted too much, she helps Din Djiarin and crucially teaches him more about who Grogu is, including revealing his name.

Ahsoka is a great fighter who is doing a great job during her time on the show, and there’s a lot of genuine intrigue surrounding her character. But with Ahsoka set to get her own spinoff show on Disney+, she’s a Star Wars character people are going to learn a lot more about.

6 Greef Karga

Greef Karga is one of the series’ more morally gray characters. For much of the first season, it’s not quite clear whose side Karga is on. If anything, he seems to be in opposition to Din Djarin’s goals for quite some time, as Mando failed to deliver the bounty he had been assigned to acquire.

But over time, this jaded member of the Bounty Hunters’ Guild becomes a valuable asset in Djarin’s protection of Grogu. He’s been shown to have a great sense of dry humor, too, which is perhaps owed largely to Carl Weathers’ affable portrayal, making him one of the most popular Mandalorian characters.

5 Boba Fett

Boba Fett is a legendary Star Wars character who audiences have always loved, being a tremendous bounty hunter with amazing skills. His return in The Mandalorian was an amazing moment and his terrific fighting skills instantly made him a hit with fans.

He’s a likable character who tries his best to help Din Djarin and isn’t afraid of a fight when needed. He’s wise and has a lot of experience, all of which comes into play, especially when he’s outnumbered against the Stormtroopers. Boba Fett is another character that will soon have his own Disney+ show, with The Book Of Boba Fett, which will explore his character in more detail.

4 IG-11

It’s a real credit to the world of the Star Wars universe that droids and robots can have such robust personalities and become some of the galaxy’s most beloved characters. When IG-11 was first introduced as a bounty hunter, he immediately became a threat, as he intended to kill Grogu and collect on the bounty he had been promised.

But when IG-11 was reprogrammed and returned as a nurse droid, the character quickly became one of the series’ most beloved and most hilarious assets. With stellar voice work from Taika Waititi, IG-11 is every bit as sarcastic as he is selfless. His ultimate sacrifice to save Grogu allows IG-11’s redemption story to come full circle, helping his likability even more.

3 Kuiil

IG-11 isn’t the only character lost so far who had an incredible presence and resonance during the show. The kindly Ugnaught Kuiil served as one of Din Djarin’s greatest allies during the early days of his journeys, and took a real liking to caring for the little asset known as Grogu, too.

He may have come off tough and gruff and short-spoken in his initial appearances, thanks in large part to his trademark catchphrase “I have spoken,” but Kuiil was soon revealed to have quite a warm, compassionate heart. His sacrifice as he strove to protect Grogu from the Empire just speaks to that, making him one of the most popular Mandalorian characters.

2 Din Djarin (The Mandalorian)

The Mandalorian is a series about the adventures of a bounty hunter, but the series would likely not have worked with any bounty hunter other than Din Djarin at the forefront. The masked hero, as portrayed by Pedro Pascal, has quickly become one of the most fascinating characters in the Star Wars canon.

Though not a member of the Mandalorian clan by birth, Din Djarin was adopted into the clan following a siege on his own people. He is a man of few, but carefully chosen words, who clearly carries great amounts of pain and empathy both with him every single day. His undeniable connection with fellow foundling Grogu just speaks to his kindness and strength in equal measure.

1 Grogu

The show might be called The Mandalorian, but from the very first episode, it quickly became clear that this was Grogu’s world and everyone else was just living in it.

Few characters in any work of fiction can claim to have become absolute global pop culture phenomenons in quite the way that the alien known as The Child has. Grogu has become an instant icon in the world of Star Wars, as well as the star of countless memes and merchandise. With so little known about this tiny Force-wielding hero, there’s plenty of places the series can take him. Hopefully, his journey will live up to all of the hype, especially now he is with Luke Skywalker.
