The Mandalorian Who Plays The Armorer

Who plays the Armorer in The Mandalorian? It’s no secret that the title character is portrayed by Pedro Pascal, who’s finally unmasked in the season 1 finale. But Disney+ subscribers may be curious about the Armorer’s real-life identity, as the female character never reveals her face.

In The Mandalorian season 1, the Armorer appears in three episodes. She welds a pauldron for Mando (later revealed to be Din Djarin) in episode 1, and then forges some Whistling Birds for him in episode 3. During both meetings, Mando experiences childhood flashbacks as the Armorer pounds away. In The Mandalorian season 1 finale, the Armorer surprises Mando after he finds a pile of Mandalorian helmets. She refuses to abandon the covert, and tells Mando that he must look after Baby Yoda, or rather “The Child,” as part of the Mandalorian creed. The Armorer also provides Mando with a jetpack in The Mandalorian season 1 finale.

The Mandalorian’s Armorer is played by Emily Swallow, who is best known for portraying Kim Fischer in The Mentalist and Amara, aka The Darkness, in Supernatural. She also voiced Lisa Tepes in Netflix’s Castlevania. On the big screen, Swallow had a small role in the 2008 film The Lucky Ones starring Rachel McAdams. Prior to commencing a film and television career, Swallow earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from New York University’s prestigious Tisch School of the Arts, where Oscar winners like Mahershala Ali, Spike Lee, and even Martin Scorsese previously received similar educations.

The Armorer played a small but integral role in The Mandalorian season 1, setting Din Djarin on his path, which will continue into The Mandalorian season 2. Whether the Armorer returns (and if Swallow plays her again) remains to be seen, but it seems that her story isn’t over. After salvaging all of the dead Mandalorians’ armor, she will need to find a new place to rebuild. Perhaps she and Mando will meet once again when that happens. After all, she was still alive at the end of the season 1 finale.

As for Swallow herself, she has other projects she’s currently working on. Swallow is wrapping up a voice role for the video game The Last of Us: Part II, and has completed filming the short film Health to the King. As of now, Swallow may not be easily recognized for her Disney+ role, but that could soon change if her character is unmasked in the upcoming The Mandalorian season 2.
