The Nazi Arrowverse Version of [Spoiler] Killed

The CW kicked off its annual DC TV annual crossover event titled ‘Crisis on Earth-X’ with the game changing death of Mechad Brooks’ James Olsen while his superhero alter-ego tried to fight-off Earth-X’s version of the Green Arrow.

Inspired by story beats from the comics and the forthcoming animated tie-in series Freedom Fighters: The Ray, this year’s Arrowverse crossover will feature our heroes fighting off their villainous counterparts from Earth-X — an alternate world where the Nazis won World War II. If that isn’t stressful enough, the fiasco also coincides Barry and Iris’ supposed wedding (which now, obviously takes a back seat granted the predicament), adding a more grounded story to an otherwise out-of-this-world narrative with alternate versions of the good guys coming in hot for an attempt at a takeover.

James’ death came quickly, even before the brewing battle between our heroes and their Earth-X villains starts to pick-up steam. After going head-to-head with Earth-X’s version of Oliver Queen, known as the Dark Archer, the Guardian met his end with the villain proving to be a bit too much for him to handle. In any case, however, his demise came as a perfect set-up for this year’s Arrowverse crossover. It double downs on the notion that the TV spectacle has high stakes enough to force our heroes to put a united front in order to preserve the reality that people in Earth-1 has.

The character was one of the original cast members of Supergirl, debuting as CatCo’s lead photographer and lending Kara a helping hand balancing her personal life as a normal National City citizen and a budding superhero operating underground. Eventually, the two developed a romantic relationship with each other. Unfortunately, things did not last for every long between them as they ultimately broke it off at the start of the show’s second season. While the younger Danver sister moved on with her life, carried-on her duties as Supergirl and again falling in love, this time with co-extraterrestrial Mon-El, her former boyfriend decided to suit up himself and take the mantle as the Guardian.

Season 3 of Supergirl, however, had yet to see him once again don his metal super suit, and considering what just happened on ‘Crisis on Earth-X,’ we now never will. Having said that, fans of the character can relish on the fact that he died fighting for a great cause, as well as, some really cool final words — hinting that there will be more good guys like who will eventually foil the evil plans of the Earth-X bad guys.

Accidental movie fan who is perpetually curious, Ana rekindled her love for writing several years back and married it with everything pop culture. The result is a passionate young writer who could ramble (and of course, pen) about films and series multiple hours a day. She has a soft spot for The Lion King, old songs, and home design; is currently obsessed with old sitcoms (The Golden Girls!); and won’t dare watch any horror films although she’s (ironically) dying to see one. Though a bit late to the party and was an actual Force non-believer, she now finds the Star Wars franchise quite fascinating (fun fact: it was a crazy Jar Jar Binks/Sith theory that drew her in).
