The Real Housewives: Ranking The 10 Worst Husbands

The Real Housewives franchise on Bravo is all about the many wives across the country, but sometimes the husbands also play a role… and not always a positive one. While there’s a lot of glitz and glam that comes with being a wealthy housewife living a glamorous life, there’s a lot of instability to it. In many cases, the Housewife relationships publically fall apart, and much of the time, it’s because of a truly toxic husband.

Here are some of the worst husbands that have graced the franchise, from sea to shining sea.

10 Peter Thomas (Atlanta)

Peter isn’t the worst offender on this list–at times, he and Cynthia Bailey seemed well-matched, even. But he never truly seemed to respect Cynthia. He’d talk down to her, belittle her efforts, and make her feel less-than, all while making questionable business decisions and not filling her in on the full truths of his situation.

He even created a rift between Cynthia and her family, earning him a place on this list.

9 Mario Singer (New York)

Mario was always one obnoxious son of a gun, laughing cruelly at the other housewives and smarmily smirking and flirting at many women. But he always seemed well-matched for Ramona…at least until he cheated on her publically, causing her much humiliation.

Even after their separation, it seemed like he was trying to manipulate her, have his cake and eat it too, leaving him firmly on the worst husbands list.

8 Shane Simpson (Orange County)

What good can be said about Shane? Not much. Kelly Dodd calls him a “twerp” on the show, and that’s about accurate. Like many of the husbands on the show, he doesn’t seem to appreciate his attractive, doting, and devoted wife even a little–putting her into difficult situations and abandoning her when she needs him.

Shane is definitely not matured past infancy, and he’s 100% not ready to be a husband and father.

7 Jim Edmonds (Orange Country)

Jim is cursed with a case of the athlete husband, which means he thinks he’s god and his wife is a nagging, expensive accessory which he has the burden of tolerating. Although their marriage is over now, Jim committed a cardinal sin, and agreed to have a baby with his wife, mostly to shut her up, knowing full well he didn’t actually want one.

A baby is not a handbag, Jim.

6 David Foster (Beverly Hills)

Musical genius or not, David Foster came off as a condescending, aloof husband, cold in the face of his devoted wife. During her time married to David, Yolanda Hadid was a model wife, who worked to stay fit for him, to take care of his house, to entertain him, to feed him, and to make sure his life, generally, stayed on track. David repaid this by sometimes giving a nod, being rude to her friends, and talking about her as though she were alternately a doll or his mom.

It’s no surprise the marriage ended when Yolanda fell desperately ill. But as the mom of the world’s top supermodels, she is definitely better off.

5 Tareq Salahi (D.C.)

Tareq was an attention-seeking, social-climbing…jerk, who dragged his poor wife, who seemed hopelessly dependent on him, along for the ride. While Michaele was far from an innocent, she definitely seemed under a spell, and like she really thought Tareq was going to fulfill the promises he made and the grandeur he pretended to have.

If this were a worst person list, Tareq would be flat on the bottom, because, while on the show, he crashed Obama’s first state dinner, setting off a huge controversy and over-shadowing the entire event. For shame.

4 Michael Darby (Potomac)

Michael is a sinister soul. He holds power over his much younger, less financially stable wife, Ashley, and he knows it. Cruelly, he wields this power to torment her, even as he embarrasses her, tells her she has to cut her mother off, and manipulates her with the thought of a baby that she clearly wants so dearly.

While they are off again/on again, their marriage has produced a child. Fans can only hope Michael gets his act together.

3 Kordell Stewart (Atlanta)

Another victim of athlete husband, Kordell Stewart was one of the worst husbands the franchise has seen. When he and Porscha Williams were together, he controlled her every move, what she was allowed to do, what she was allowed to wear, how she was allowed to act, and more.

Porscha was blindsided by the news of her divorce when it happened, but it might just be the best thing Kordell ever did to her.

2 David Beador (Orange County)

David Beador is another manipulative, gas-lighting, twerp of a husband. While his wife Shannon had her flaws, David seemed completely uninterested in her, despite every effort she made to try to engage with him. David cheated on Shannon, made her feel unwanted, ugly, and insecure, and never even put an ounce of effort into making their marriage work.

When Shannon would protest these things, David would call her crazy and make her feel like the fault was her own. Another husband who is better off single.

1 Kelsey Grammer (Beverly Hills)

Kelsey Grammer’s time on The Real Housewives paints him into a villain of his own making. Despite Camille’s long time devotion to him, and the way she helped him through many tough parts of his life, Kelsey seems to barely care about her at all. He manipulates her into acting the parts he wants her to play by threatening their marriage and then unceremoniously dumps her cruelly. The times where they are together are painful to watch.

But, as it turns out, Camille had no prenup. Here’s to you, Camille!
