The Voice coach Blake Shelton updated fans following Wendy Moten’s on-air injury. During the live Top 11 results show, Team Blake performed together for the first time. As soon as the song ended, Wendy’s fall brought the upcoming results to a halt. As fans know, Blake has coached every season and is the reigning winner among the coaches. He has won eight seasons, and most recently led Cam Alexander to victory in season 20. Now with The Voice season 21 finale just a few weeks away, Team Blake hasn’t lost a single artist in the eliminations. His artists are Lana Scott, Paris Winningham and Wendy.
Like many Voice contestants over the years, Wendy has years of experience in the music industry. She has sung backup vocals for artists like Tim McGraw, Faith Hill and Bonnie Tyler. A handful of her songs were successful on the charts in the U.K. Wendy also toured with Vince Gill, who sent her a video message ahead of her last performance on the show. This slightly resembles the career of Team Blake’s first Voice champion, season 2’s Jermaine Paul. He toured with Alicia Keys, who went on to coach three seasons of the show. Now Blake is hoping for a win with Wendy. He even declared in a recent episode that he has never wanted one of his artists to win as much as her.
Immediately after Wendy’s injury, Blake assured fans via a Twitter video that Wendy is doing fine. “Wendy’s okay…Don’t worry, anybody. Hurt her elbow a little bit. I think she’s gonna be fine.” In the same tweet, Blake wrote, “Thank you America 3 for 3! Proud of you Lana, @ParisWinningham, and is there anything that can stop @WendyMoten? The answer is no! #TeamBlake #TheVoice.” Not only did Wendy recover immediately, but she will be performing next week, since all of Team Blake advanced to the Top 10 before their performance.

Not only are The Voice fans glad that Wendy is healthy, but many are hoping and predicting that she will win this season. She’s been a favorite since the Blind Auditions, where she earned a four-chair turn, and Blake used his block on John. It paid off when Wendy picked Blake as her coach. He chose her as the winner in the Battles and the Knockouts, and viewers have voted her through every round of the live performances.
The Voice fans have definitely been opinionated this season. From Ariana Grande’s coaching skills to the pageant-style interview questions Carson Daly asks the artists during the results shows, the important thing is that they’re also talking about the artists. There’s no doubt that Blake’s experience as a veteran coach could lead him to yet another victory, and Wendy could very well give him his ninth win. Not only do fans love her voice, but her years of professional experience would make her an especially deserving winner. Even Blake recognizes what’s at stake for her, and viewers agree with his enthusiasm. Like any competition show, being popular and likable is essential for the contestants.
