The Witcher: 10 Monsters Not Seen In The Netflix Series

Netflix’s adaptation of The Witcher is very impressive but it couldn’t fit in everything from the books, like 10 monsters that haven’t been seen yet.

Netflix’s adaptation of The Witcher is perhaps one of the most impressive fantasy series to premiere on the streaming platform. It has its action, its magic, and, of course, its monsters. Sometimes you need a hero, sometimes you need a professional, and no one fits that description better than Geralt of Rivia when it comes to monster-hunting.
That all being said, monsters are a gigantic portion of both the novels and games, but the series seems to be lacking a certain few. Granted, Striga, fauns, elves, and other mythological creatures have made their appearance across the first season, fans still want more.
10 Djinn
The djinn from The Last Wish did indeed make an appearance in the series, but to say that it made an actual, physical, visual manifestation is 100% wrong. Simply put, a plume of black mist in a clay pot does not a djinn make.
In the book, the battle with the angry djinn was like a fight against a giant, red, fire-spewing Godzilla, not the swirling magic tornado fans received in the show. Someone definitely got gypped here.
9 Dryads
Outside of the realms of Narnia, Dryads are a race of creatures that have yet to properly establish themselves in the magical kingdoms of TV and films. The versions in The Witcher series are essentially a nature-spirit version of elves, but with a slightly stealthier edge.
They’re uncannily gorgeous but at the same time, they can be painfully deadly with a bow and arrow. Eat your heart out, Legolas. These fae-inspired creatures might have been hinted at in season one, but that’s still up for debate.
8 Werewolves
The series has had the Striga, the kikimora, and the sylvan, but what about a more classic monster mainstay? Who wouldn’t want to see the fearsome Geralt go up against a lycanthropic creature on a dark moonlit night?
Werewolves make frequent appearances in various quests in the games, so it makes sense that they would make at least one appearance in the series. Especially considering there are not one but three named werewolf characters in the source material.
7 Alps
Although the Striga was an interesting take on the traditional vampire, alps are the dangerous hybrid of witch and vampire that would more than happily give the White Wolf a heck of a fight.
These lethal ladies are more than just more powerful vampires, they can also put their victims to sleep and torture them with horrific dreams and visions. A creature that uses literal nightmare fuel? Geralt better have some silver handy.
6 Gargoyles
With the number of castles, wizards, and gothic imagery scattered throughout the series, its a wonder that a gargoyle hasn’t shown up yet. According to the official bestiary, gargoyles are sentient statues brought to life by magic to protect the entrance to a wizard’s laboratory.
Because A, the council of wizards is one of the deadliest threats in the show and B, gargoyles are some of the hardest monsters in the games, this should make for some interesting encounters.
5 Golems
On the subject of living stonework, what fantasy game worth its weight in experience points doesn’t have a golem or two? Of course, The Witcher is no exception to theses giant elemental titans.
What makes these guys stand out is that they don’t just come in the standard-issue stone giant, but the bestiary describes them as being made of any mindless matter. With that in mind, the filmmakers could have some serious fun with the golems they create.
4 Leshen
Ever wonder what would happen if a fairy crossbred with a wendigo? The result produces a leshy, and there is nothing sparkly and magical about these carrion-eating creatures. Ancient and mysterious, these things are like something out of an H.P. Lovecraft novel who definitely deserve their own episode.
Some scenario where someone is stalked and hunted by these wicked things would certainly be scary.
3 Specters
There are loads of ghosts, phantoms, and evil spirits to choose from in the realm of The Witcher, it’s honestly a terrible challenge to just pick one.
From the standard run-of-the-mill wraiths to vengeful banshees, dragur, and other damned souls, these creatures have yet to be properly introduced to the series. And with so many to choose from, there’s no way the directors should miss out on conjuring these spirits.
2 Nivellen
For those who have read the books, Nivellen isn’t just the standard-issue monster, but an endearing and quirky adaptation of the Beast from the Beauty and the Beast narrative.
Known in the text as the man in the monster’s mask, Nivellen’s tale is one of the most surprising and memorable in the entire first novel. Not including him in the series would be a tragic mistake, and fans will not be happy.
1 The Wild Hunt
One of the more modern additions to the saga of Geralt of Rivia, the Wild Hunt is a group of phantom raiders who strike fear into the hearts of men while serving as the main threat of The Witcher III.
In terms of classic fantasy, these guys could put the fear into the dark hearts of the Nazgul. Without going into spoilers, let’s just say that while the Hunt might take inspiration from wraiths and black riders, their true identity is something much more magical.
