Tom Hollands SpiderMan 4 Reportedly In Secret Development

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4 is reportedly secretly in development at Marvel Studios and Sony. The actor debuted as the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Peter Parker in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, before headlining his own solo series that began with Spider-Man: Homecoming. After appearing in a couple of Avengers movies and 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home, Holland is set to round out his solo trilogy this month with the highly-anticipated Spider-Man: No Way Home, which is projected to have the biggest box office opening of the year.

As part of the current Disney and Sony deal, Holland is supposed to reprise Peter Parker in another MCU team-up movie. With regard to future solo Spider-Man movies, producer Amy Pascal said the studio wants another Spider-Man trilogy starring Holland, but nothing has been officially announced or scheduled yet. Though it certainly sounds like Holland will be sticking around the MCU for the foreseeable future, if the latest reports are to be believed.

In a piece discussing the MCU’s future on Puck, Matthew Belloni mentions a Spider-Man 4 starring Tom Holland is already secretly in development, with Sony and Marvel Studios once again collaborating with each other. Check out the relevant excerpt below:

According to multiple sources, there’s a deal for a fourth Marvel-produced movie that will star Tom Holland, and it’s already quietly in development.

The unprecedented Sony/Disney partnership over Spider-Man in the MCU has proven to be quite fruitful. Spider-Man: Homecoming grossed $880.1 million worldwide, and Far From Home grossed $1.1 billion. No Way Home is expected to be another massive hit for the franchise, with early ticket sales the biggest since Avengers: Endgame. Even though the box office is still slowly recovering amidst the COVID-19 pandemic with figures still a far cry from where they were in 2019, No Way Home looks to be an exception in the current moviegoing climate. With all that in mind, it isn’t surprising to see the studios are interested in keeping the series going. Spider-Man remains one of the most popular Marvel characters and audiences have grown to love Holland’s iteration.

As the MCU enters a transitional period post-Endgame, they’ve bid farewell to franchise cornerstones like Tony Stark and Steve Rogers. Over the course of the past handful of years, Holland has cemented his Peter Parker as a worthy successor to those departed original heroes and gives Marvel a familiar face to keep around as they progress through Phase 4 and introduce new characters. Holland has discussed leaving the Spider-Man role in the near future, but it sounds like he’s got a couple more movies left in him before he hangs up the suit. Of course, audiences won’t know where Spider-Man 4 will go until after No Way Home comes out.
