Disney Channel’s The Owl House features a diverse and meaty cast of characters. Season 1 especially introduced a plethora of memorable figures that have gone on to become fan favorites. From the happy-go-lucky lead protagonist Luz Noceda (Sarah Nicole-Robles) to her shifty but loyal mentor Eda Clawthorne (Wendie Malick). These fantastic characters have struck a chord with audiences. This can be attributed to the series’ exceptional writing, acting performances, and character designs.
Season 1 has recently wrapped up and season two confirmed audiences will certainly be treated to more colorful individuals from the magical and mesmerizing world of The Owl House.
10 Principal Bump
The principal of Hexside School of Magic and Demonics. Initially, he helped the construction of Hexside while as a young student. He was convinced by Luz and some of her peers to allow students to learn more than one style of magic, despite the school’s long-held cardinal rule. While not much else is known about him, he has had a few notable hilarious moments on the show (including the school’s infomercial). He is voiced by #BlackAF actor Bumper Robinson.
9 Lilith
Lilith is Eda’s older sister and the former head of the Emperor’s coven. Being a leader of the most prestigious coven in the land, Lilith is an exceptionally talented witch whose ambition has prevailed and harmed her. Despite their estrangement, she was adamant about curing the curse she cast on Eda and initiating her into the coven. While most fans disliked Lilith at the beginning, the season finale has some warming up to her. Acknowledging that while she committed some heinous acts and betrayal against Eda she always loved her and wanted to rewrite her wrongs. She is portrayed by Telltale’s Walking Dead actress Cissy Jones.
8 Gus
Gus is Luz and Willow’s friend. He is exceptionally gifted with illusion magic and was once the president of H.A.S. (Human Appreciation Society) before the club was disbanded by Principal Bump. Due to his studious nature and intelligence, he skipped a couple of grades. His thirst for discovery and knowledge (especially about humans) is never quenched. His zeal for learning and humans is only outmatched by his devotion and kindness to his pals. He is voiced by Raven’s Home actor Issac Ryan Brown.
7 Emira & Edric
Emira and Edric are crafty and meddlesome tricksters who relished picking on their younger sister Amity. Both are charismatic and proficient witches. They were able to coax Luz into joining their delinquency. Following the events of “Lost in Language”, they have changed their tune and have become more sincere and supportive towards Amity. Emira and Edric are portrayed by Helluva Boss actress Erica Lindbeck and American Vandal actor Ryan O’Flannagan.
6 Willow
Willow is Luz and Gus’s friend. Upon her introduction, she was shown to be timid and considered magically incompetent as she struggled to form even the most basic of spells.
However, as the series progressed she became more outgoing and was revealed to be exceptionally talented in plant magic. Despite being a former target of Amity and her cronies’ bullying her experiences and newfound confidence has allowed her to stand up for herself. Willow is voiced by The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina actress Tati Gabrielle.
5 Hooty
Hooty is the guardian demon of Eda’s home. Despite being attached to the front door he is still able to extend his neck to tremendous lengths. His clingy and nosy demeanor tends to annoy the occupants of the Owl House and others. For the most part, everyone ignores him and leaves him be. Besides facing constant rejection, Hooty is still sunny and playful. Fans tend to sympathize with him and feel the characters can be too harsh. He is voiced by Gravity Falls creator Alex Hirsch.
4 King
The self-proclaimed “king of demons.” He is determined to reclaim his former title. King’s diminutive size is outshined by his larger-than-life personality. He struts around in an air of superiority and tends to get frustrated when others question/challenge it. Despite having an arrogant and brash demeanor he tends to soften up to those like Luz, Eda, and (rarely) Hooty. Showing he does care about them and what they think of him. Alex Hirsch also portrays King.
3 Luz
Luz is a well-meaning but precocious witch-in-training whose curiosity can get the best of her. Her creative and imaginative spirit went unappreciated in the human world whilst in the Boiling Isles, she is able to thrive and be herself.
She is incredibly loyal to her friends and will go to great lengths to ensure their safety. Just as she did when Eda was captured by Lilith and taken to the Emperor’s Coven. Luz is portrayed by Sarah-Nicole Robles.
2 Eda
Eda was the most powerful witch on the Boiling Isles before the season finale. Having a reputation as a criminal, she’s incredibly cunning and mischievous. However, she is mostly harmless and at the end of the day, she just wants to have a good time. She strayed from the pack and cultivated her own path as a witch. Before Luz showed up she mostly kept to herself besides living with King and Hooty. She has proven to care a great deal for her protege and has proven she will do anything to ensure her safety. Eda is voiced by Hot in Cleveland alumnus Wendie Malick.
1 Amity
Amity was introduced as a bully but promising witch-in-training. Despite her seemingly cold demeanor, she is erudite and is her school’s “Top Student.” As the series progresses and she hangs out with Luz more a different side of Amity is shown. One that is considerate, sweet, and compassionate. The audience also learns the true motivation behind some of Amity’s past cruel actions. Within a span of a season, she has had the most impressive character arc and growth. She is voiced by Good Girls actress Mae Whitman.
