10 Black Mirror (Netflix)
Starting out with a bang, Black Mirror is a must for fans of technology and Sci-Fi. This series stands apart from others because every episode tells an amazing story, with different characters each time. They are all intertwined with how technology and the internet barges into people’s lives for the better and oftentimes, for the worse.
Each episode of Black Mirror is fresh and doesn’t copy any bit of the one before it or after. This is a completely new take on immersing the audience into worlds and storylines with seemingly real people, just trying to live their lives.
9 Altered Carbon (Netflix)
Altered Carbon is not only a great show, but it’s also a fresh take on the human consciousness. In the show, people are “copied” and transplanted into other bodies to give them a new life. The series has dips into the mystery genre as well, as the main character, Takeshi, is looking into a murder case.
The futuristic shots are beautiful and the storyline will keep the audience on their toes. Currently, there are two seasons out and both are available for streaming on Netflix.
8 The Outsider (HBO)
Based on the horror novel by author Stephen King, The Outsider is presented on HBO and tells the story about unspeakable crimes that happen in a small town, with little explanation as to how they happened. Just when viewers think they have the villain figured out, something else happens and the mystery continues. It’s gritty, terrifying at times and also is dealing with an otherworldly entity that is out for blood.
7 Orphan Black (Amazon Prime)
Some viewers watch a show for a favorite actor or actress and some watch a show for the storyline; but when it comes to Orphan Black, the quality in both in undeniable. Actress, Tatiana Maslany plays six characters, each with different backstories and personalities.
They are each trying to figure out the meaning behind their past and what it means for them now. The show brilliantly combines Sci-Fi and comedic aspects and has all five seasons on Amazon for viewing pleasure.
6 Westworld (HBO)
Westworld is the show to watch. A western-themed amusement park for the wealthy has robots as the the tour guides and the characters that play a part. Although robots are meant to obey, some have their own set of rules.
Westworld is a Sci-Fi thriller of a television show that will have viewers on the edge of their seats and binging season after season to find out what happens next.
5 Stranger Things (Netflix)
When Netflix’s Stranger Things premiered, it became a widely popular television show right away. Whether the audience has a bout of nostalgia from the 1980’s era or it’s all new to them, it’s delightfully fresh and the actors are amazing, nonetheless. Throughout the three seasons, the adventures gets better and the character development is plentiful.
While the cast is mostly kids and pre-teens, there are scary moments; it’d be a shocker that Sci-Fi fans haven’t binged this already.
4 12 Monkeys (Hulu)
Originally, 12 Monkeys was a film that came out in 1995, but in 2015, a television show was released. It has time-travel and a deadly virus a scavenger needs to stop to save the world. This show isn’t one to keep on in the background, otherwise viewers might miss small, but important pieces of the show.
The cast is stellar and the adventures the characters go on are hard to pass up. Viewers can watch all four seasons on Hulu now.
3 The 100 (Netflix)
Television shows and films have been revolving their storylines around a dystopian world for decades, but somehow, The 100 is different. After a nuclear war wipes out the human race, the remaining survivors are left to live their lives at space station called The Ark.
If that’s not enticing enough, the storyline is compelling and the visual into this fictional future is something that’ll keep audiences coming back for more. There are currently six seasons that are available on Netflix.
2 Dark (Netflix)
Because of a wormhole being discovered in an underground cave in the small German town of Winden, strange things start to happen to locals and kids go missing. It may sound similar to Stranger Things, much it’s much darker than that. Loaded with time-travel mysteries, a sense of humor and a mysterious storyline rolled into one, Dark is a show that’s a must-see on Netflix.
1 Counterpart (Amazon Prime Video)
Parallel universes, war and an amazing cast are three reasons to get into Counterpart. J.K. Simmons leads the cast and does a spectacular job as Howard Silk, a government desk jockey that tries to stop this madness before it’s too late. What makes this television show unique is that the characters play counterparts of themselves in each universe, which makes it really interesting once they catch up with one another.
