Get your first look at part 1 of the new Doctor Who Web spin-off Pond Life. Set up as an online prequel to the upcoming seventh series of Doctor Who, the new web mini-series follows the day-to-day married life of Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) and Rory Williams(Arthur Darvill) while their best-buddy (and son-in-law) The Doctor is out having miscellaneous adventures.

Mini-sode 1 features the dear old Doctor (Matt Smith) busy gallivanting between lava surfing with Sontarans and rapping in a backwards Tardis blue ballcap (yes, I said rapping) – All while still making time to drop the Ponds a series of jaunty voice-mails, keeping them apprised of his various adventures.

Part 2 will be released by the BBC tomorrow (August 28th) around noon, and is said to show The Doctor picking the wrong time to turn up unannounced… (use your imagination). The remanding webisodes will air every day this week leading into the Saturday September 1st season 7 premiere of Doctor Who: “Asylum of the Daleks”.

As previously mentioned, “Asylum of the Daleks” will be “an epic Dalek adventure” containing every Dalek ever – but it also features The Doctor trying to save the floundering relationship of Amy and Rory, whose married life is going downhill for some currently unknown reason. Perhaps the miniseries will shed some light on why our favorite couple might not stay together.

Sadly, as we all know (and are dreading) both Amy and Rory will be saying a tearful farewell to The Doctor midway through the upcoming season, in “The Angels Take Manhattan.” That episode also marks the return of their gun-toting daughter River Song (Alex Kingston) and the treacherous Weeping Angels – but what’s currently under much speculation is just how the two beloved characters will be written out of the series.

With plans for a fifth season of Torchwood on an indefinite hold, and the series finale of kid-centric Who-spin off The Sarah Jane Adventures concluded, due to star Elisabeth Sladen death, there’s definitely an opening for a new full-length Doctor Who spin-off that could be filled nicely by Amy and Rory – provided they both survive the season 7 of Doctor Who.

Catch the next episode of Pond Life tomorrow on the BBC website and watch the new season of Doctor Who when it airs this Saturday September 1st on the BBC, BBC America and Space (in Canada). In the meantime, check out our Doctor Who Viewing Guide: Tips, Suggestions & Complete Episode List!
