Project Power doesn’t include any major twists in the final act, but rather focuses on the protagonists’ collective attempts to prevent baddies from getting away on a boat called the Genesis. Project Power has the potential to become a huge hit for the streaming service as a result of the main cast’s star power, the inevitable draw of it being as close to a superhero blockbuster as audiences will get right now, and the polished filmmaking. Netflix likely won’t announce Project Power 2 by the end of Fall 2020, but don’t be surprised if everyone involved is already planning on a sequel.

Project Power was produced for $85 million, so it’s a proper Netflix blockbuster and in the same bracket as The Old Guard, against which it will inevitably face comparisons. A sequel would presumably once again take place in New Orleans, and a couple of big names will most likely join the main cast. Ideally, Project Power 2 would release in 2022, at least from a fan’s point of view. The reality is that a sequel probably won’t release until 2023 at the earliest, primarily because Foxx and Gordon-Levitt are big names and already have other projects in the works.

Project Power 2 Story Details

Project Power doesn’t blatantly set up a sequel, as the Netflix film wraps up various character arcs and provides a tidy ending. Art manages to locate his daughter Tracy, who was kidnapped by the Genesis crew because she could potentially have “permanent power.” In a slight twist, Frank is shot and nearly killed, however, Tracy saves the day by reviving him.

In theory, Project Power 2 – if it happens – would focus on Robin’s experiences in New Orleans. The credits sequence in Project Power shows that Robin released her debut single, so she’ll naturally attract attention within her community, and Frank will undoubtedly be keeping a close eye on her. It’s implied that Art was set to begin a new life with his daughter, but don’t be surprised if he’s lured back to the streets. One would assume that Project Power 2 on Netflix will focus on Fishback, Gordon-Levitt, and a new addition to the main cast.
