Wizards of Waverly Place’s Russo family may have caused a lot of chaos, but, at the end of the day, they were always there for each other.

There were jokes throughout this Disney channel series that showed that it was difficult to get the Russo family to do nice things for each other. They were often known to manipulate, scheme, or trick their other relatives into doing things for them. Jerry and Theresa would even go out of their way to avoid their children’s bizarre tactics.
However, no matter how often they drove each other crazy, there was no denying how much they all cared about each other. They would protect, help, and save each other. For all the chaos they caused, the Russos did many good things for each other.
10 Justin Put Up Alex’s Mural
Alex’s artistic talents were utilized when it was time to create a school mural. Justin had nominated Alex for the position, and she had agreed. However, it quickly became a tiring experience, as everyone on the committee had an idea of what they wanted to be incorporated in the mural. Alex’s vision was pushed aside as she tried to include everyone’s wishes.
However, Alex had painted her original idea underground to get her painting on a wall somewhere. After casting an “eye of the beholder” spell, Justin decides to force Alex’s real artwork out. He uses magic to place Alex’s original mural on the school wall. While Alex’s painting may not have received the same praise, she felt good about everyone seeing her work.
9 Max Saved Alex and Justin
With things looking bad in the Wizard World, the Russos must come together to defeat Gorog. Yet, there is one thing standing in the way. Alex and Justin are trapped in Alex’s apartment as a black hole threatens to envelop them. While Alex and Justin can not come up with a way out of their dilemma, Max does. To save his siblings, Max jumps into another black hole that Professor Crumbs creates, tied to a rope that the Professor and Harper are meant to pull. Successfully, Max brings Alex and Justin back into their family wizard lair.
8 Alex’s Quinceanera
Alex may not have wanted a Quinceanera, but Theresa certainly did. Knowing how much her mother had wanted a party her family couldn’t afford, Alex decided to give Theresa an unexpected present. Switching bodies with Theresa, Alex gives her mother the party she had always wanted while Alex can hang back in Theresa’s body and do nothing. In Alex’s body, Theresa is the center of attention at the party. Theresa is dressed the way she had wanted to be when she was fifteen and participates in the dance Alex is meant to have with her brothers.
7 Alex Saved Justin
Justin had a habit of falling in love hard and fast. He did not stop to think about it as much as he just let his feelings guide the way. This is good for Rosie and the thing that causes significant problems for Justin. He had not meant to fall to the dark side, but, as Rosie was an Angel of Darkness, her influence brought out the worst in Justin.
With the Moral Compass in the hands of Gorog, Alex must use the little good that is left inside her to defeat Gorog and bring Justin back to the light side. Another time Alex saved Justin was when Dr. Evilini planned to drain Justin’s powers at Volcano Land.
6 Encouraging Justin
After losing Juliet to the Mummy, Justin did all he could to train to fight the Mummy and get his girlfriend back. As he began to lose hope, Jerry and Max each had encouraging things to say to Justin to get his hopes back up. Max told Justin that he believed in him because Max had never seen Justin give up on anything.
Jerry had also given Justin a particular set of glasses that allowed Justin to see what is behind him while preventing Justin from looking directly into the Mummy’s eyes. To train with the glasses, Max worked with Justin, attacking him from various angles to prepare Justin for a fight.
5 Bringing Max Back
Max may have been getting used to being Maxine, but he did not enjoy the thought of being stuck like that for long. Luckily, crossing spells on Professor Crumbs was what Alex and Justin needed to learn the potion that would bring their brother back. In “Back to Max,” they succeed, bringing Max and Professor Crumbs back to their usual selves. However, due to the potion not responding immediately, Max is on stage performing as Maxine just as the potion takes effect. Using the confetti canon, Jerry covers Max’s transformation.
4 Destroying The Answer Egg
Alex had hurt Theresa’s feelings during “Uncle Ernesto.” All Theresa wanted was to have a birthday celebration with her brother without magic causing mayhem. Unfortunately, Theresa’s wish does not come true. Alex, Max, and Justin rush around the apartment, trying to keep Uncle Ernesto from seeing a chicken that tells the future. After Theresa tells Alex how she felt about Alex using magic, Alex tries to make it up to Theresa. The chicken had finally laid the answer egg, and, instead of learning the answer, Alex destroys the egg to apologize to Theresa.
3 Choosing Each Other Over Magic
Magic could be very tempting, but their family was more important. Jerry, Kelbo, and Megan had trouble dealing with the strife that came with the Wizard Competition. Jerry’s choice to give his magic to Kelbo was the last straw that severed the siblings. After seeing what that had done to her father and his siblings, Alex knew that she did not want her, Justin, and Max to end up divided. Thus, when the time came for Jerry, Kelbo, and Megan’s retest, Alex, Max, and Justin stood firm, choosing their relationship over magic. Yet, that choice is precisely the reason the test administer decided to allow the Russos to keep their powers.
2 Stone of Dreams
With time running out, Alex and Justin are forced to have a version of the Wizard Competition to undo Alex’s wish. A victory for Alex has Justin become the second Russo to be vanished by a vortex. Alex was determined the entire adventure that they would return everything to the way it had been before the wish, but Jerry gives Alex another option.
Alex can use the Stone to bring her brothers back and keep her full wizard powers. Yet, Alex knows that is not what she wants. Alex’s wish reverts the world to the way it had been before the first wish. Theresa and Jerry are back to normal, and Max and Justin have returned, all of them with their powers intact.
1 Forgiveness
Alex, Justin, and Max mess up a lot during the series. Yet, they always find a way to forgive each other in all the madness. After fighting with Alex after being disqualified from the Wizard Competition, Max is the first to go easier on Alex. Seeing her have difficulty bringing something into the sub shop, Max helps her carry it and holds the door open.
Justin later loosens up, as well, assisting Alex to pick up a bunch of trash. Together, the three of them work as a team, bringing in possibly more customers than the substation had ever seen before that day. Once they have forgiven each other, the Russo siblings discover that they were never disqualified, and it was a way to test their strength as a family.
