WWE Raw More Details About Kanes Return Revealed (And When Hell Leave)

This week’s WWE Raw saw Kane make a surprise return, and further details have since surfaced on what the plan for him is. Kane is one of the few big stars from WWE’s Attitude Era that has yet to officially retire from in-ring competition, although he’s been inactive for quite awhile now. In fact, Kane’s last appearance on WWE TV before Monday night was all the way back on the November 29th, 2016 episode of SmackDown, which saw him defeat former Bray Wyatt cohort Luke Harper.

While an onscreen explanation for Kane’s long hiatus and recent return has yet to be revealed, Kane – real name Glen Jacobs – has been busy preparing for an offscreen run for Mayor of Knox County, Tennessee in the 2018 election. That might seem like an odd path for the man behind “The Big Red Machine” to take in life, but Jacobs has long been active in politics, and many see running for office as the next logical step in his political journey.

With that in mind, it’s not too surprising that PW Insider is now reporting that Kane’s return to WWE programming is likely to be a short one. According to their sources, Kane is set to be around for only about a month total, including this Sunday’s TLC pay-per-view and the next few Raw episodes afterward. Kane’s return this past Monday was actually a surprise even to the WWE locker room, as most didn’t know he was backstage.

It has yet to be confirmed, but most assume that Kane’s reasoning for returning to battle the newly reunited Shield faction has something to do with Shield member Roman Reigns seemingly retiring Kane’s brother The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33. Undertaker has never made an official retirement announcement, but he hasn’t appeared on WWE TV in any capacity since losing to Reigns, and the announce team has made reference to his career being over.

If Kane is indeed back to avenge his brother’s defeat, one assumes he’ll have a one-on-one match with Reigns before departing to continue work on Jacobs’ mayoral campaign. For now, “The Devil’s Favorite Demon” will be part of this Sunday’s big TLC main event, teaming with The Miz, Cesaro, Sheamus, and Braun Strowman against The Shield. One would normally expect five WWE superstars to have an easy time beating three, but when those three are The Shield, things become a lot harder to predict.
