In its latest round of mass cuts, WWE has released a slew of performers from its NXT developmental roster.

As reported on Twitter by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, NXT talents Malcolm Bivens, Dakota Kai, Raelyn Divine, Mila Malani, Draco Anthony, Sanjana George, Persia Pirotta, Harland, Dexter Lumis and Paige Prinzivalli have all been released from their WWE contracts as of today, April 29. All 10 performers have 30-day non-compete clauses (as opposed to the 90-day non-compete clauses given to WWE’s main-roster wrestlers).

Sapp provided additional details on the releases via Fightful Select. In line with previous mass releases, WWE’s head of talent relations, John Laurinaitis (aka Johnny Ace), cited budget cuts as the reason for the layoffs.

Prior to his WWE release, Bivens was the manager for NXT’s Diamond Mine stable, which currently consists of Roderick Strong, Brutus Creed, Julius Creed, Ivy Nile and Tatum Paxley. According to Fightful Select, Bivens — who has now returned to his real name of Stokely Hathaway — had made it clear that he did not plan on re-signing with WWE.

Hathaway apparently made a similar assertion last year, though ultimately renewed his contract to join the Diamond Mine after not being used on WWE television for two years. He was offered a new contract in February, though actually declined to re-sign this time around. Prior to signing with WWE in the first place, Hathaway performed for promotions like Ring of Honor (ROH), EVOLVE and Major League Wrestling (MLW).

Fightful Select reports that Dakota Kai was in a similar boat. Evidently, the former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion “[saw] the release coming,” as she had previously indicated that she was not planning to re-sign with WWE. Meanwhile, 2021 NXT signee Harland (real name Parker Boudreaux) is said to have been released due to WWE coaches and officials being dissatisfied with the speed of his in-ring progression.

Apparently, an unnamed NXT official reached out to Fightful Select, expressing frustration regarding the abrupt releases, which are sure to disrupt ongoing angles and storylines. Nevertheless, in spite of the circumstances, several of the released performers themselves are said to be “in good spirits.”
