Y: The Last Man’s Ashley Romans recently revealed the mutant she’d most like to play if she had the opportunity to join the X-Men universe.

“Somebody sent me a character that I’ve been looking up. She’s a villain, specifically,” Romans told ComicBook.com. “It’s definitely a world. I feel like this is my chance to pitch myself. Are you familiar with Joanna Cargill?” The actor added that she doesn’t know much about the character but said that the comic book illustrations depicting her are “striking,” noting, “Out of all the universes that have really struck me, X-Men, I think, is just the coolest.”

“I was reading this book about speed reading with [Brain and Memory Coach] Jim Kwik,” Romans continued. “Jim Kwik has a really great book about expanding your mind and all that, but he has a really great chapter where he talks about how he wants to be an X-Man, and it was just such a beautiful chapter. And then I started getting into X-Men and God, yeah. That’s my answer.”

Cargill, also known as her villainous alter ego Frenzy, was created by Bob Layton and Keith Pollard and made her first appearance in 1986’s X-Factor #4. In addition to being a one-time member of the X-Men, Frenzy is probably best known as a member of the Alliance of Evil and the Acolytes supervillain groups.

Romans’ comments about wanting to join the X-Men universe came just days after it was announced that Y: The Last Man had been canceled by FX on Hulu after one season. The series is currently being shopped to other networks, however. Showrunner Eliza Clark confirmed the cancellation on Twitter, writing, “I have never in my life been more committed to a story, and there is so much more left to tell.”

It’s since been revealed that Y: The Last Man’s cancellation likely had nothing to do with audience numbers but a series of other factors, including contract extensions for certain actors. At this time, it’s believed the series will be picked up by HBO Max for Season 2.

Romans portrays Agent 355, a member of the United States government’s top-secret Culper Ring, in Y: The Last Man. In Season 1, President Jennifer Brown (Diane Lane) assigns Agent 355 to serve as the bodyguard of her son Yorick (Ben Schnetzer), who is believed to be the last living male being on Earth.

New episodes of Y: The Last Man air Mondays on FX on Hulu through Nov. 1.
