YuGiOh! 10 Cards You Forgot Mai Had

One of the main characters of the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime is Mai Valentine, a friend of the group who appeared in every season of the show. Throughout each arc of the show, she switched up her deck with different cards in order to keep her opponents on their toes.

With that in mind, it makes sense that Mai Valentine has used a few cards throughout her time on the series that fans might have forgotten about. Whether they were only used a few times or were forgotten because of how the anime presented them, there’s plenty of cards that fit this description.

10 Rose Whip

One of Mai’s most common strategies was to summon one Harpie Lady to the field, and then power up that one Harpie and multiply it in order to swarm the field with powerful monsters.

One card that Mai used to use in order to power up her Harpies was Rose Whip. The card only gave the Harpie it was equipped to 300 extra attack and defense points, so there was no reason to keep it around after season one when the power level of the game increased.

9 Shadow Of Eyes

Shadow of Eyes is another card that Mai only used during season one, and it was one of the cards that she used while pretending that she had psychic abilities.

As it only flips a monster that is in face-down defense position up while not activating any effects, it really isn’t a card that Mai needed to keep in her deck as the series continued, as it wasn’t very good, just like Rose Whip.

8 Claw Of Hermos

After Mai was freed from the control of The Seal of Orichalcos in season four, she set out with a mission to take down Dartz. While she didn’t get far, she did duel Rafael off-screen and actually included the Claw of Hermos in her deck.

As she took this card from Joey it’s unknown if she would have even been able to use the card as she wasn’t the chosen one. Nevertheless, it was in her deck for a brief period.

7 Harpie Lady Sisters

The Harpie Lady Sisters are a bit of a weird one, as Mai used them very often in her decks. However, the Harpie Lady Sisters were always presented as three different monsters when they were summoned, not as a single unit, which is how they actually function in the card game.

As such, fans might not necessarily know that Mai had the Harpie Lady Sisters in her deck, which she most certainly did.

6 The Unfriendly Amazon

During the Battle City Finals, Mai added another archetype to her deck along with the Harpie Ladies, the Amazoness warriors. This is another set of female monsters that all have various abilities that allow them to work together.

The Unfriendly Amazon is a four-star monster with 2000 attack points that requires a tribute every turn in order to stay on the field. While it’s not a great card, Mai did use it in her duel against Yami Marik.

5 Nightmare Tri-Mirror

Nightmare Tri-Mirror is a card that Mai used in her deck during the Waking the Dragons arc of the show while she was under the control of The Seal of Orichalcos. The card can be activated when the opponent fusion or special summons a monster. It allows the player to summon a copy of their own monster for each monster summoned by the opponent.

This card worked well for Mai as it allowed her to duplicate her Harpie Ladies, something that she was already very good at. Fans might not remember it as it was only seen briefly during one duel.

4 Gravity Bind

Another card that was only seen very briefly being used by Mai is Gravity Bind, a trap card that stops all level-four and higher monsters from declaring attacks. Mai very rarely used this card and only had it in one of her decks.

As all of her monsters are level-four or higher, it isn’t a card that meshes very well with her deck to begin with.

3 Harpie Lady Sparrow Formation

Harpie Lady Sparrow Formation is one of Mai’s cards that was never turned into a real card, and remains an anime exclusive, despite it not being all that complicated or great anyway.

Nevertheless, Harpie Lady Sparrow Formation can only be used if the player controls two or more Harpie Ladies. Any battle damage taken after this card is activated is reduced to zero for the turn. This card was used during the Waking the Dragons arc as well.

2 Dunames Dark Witch

Dunames Dark Witch is another normal monster that was only used briefly by Mai. It was seen during her duel with Yami Marik, where he takes control of it.

As it was Mai’s card originally, when she uses it, she loses all of her memories of Tea due to the effects of Marik’s shadow game.

1 Amazoness Fighter

Finally, Amazoness Fighter is one more monster that fans might not remember. It was also seen during Mai’s duel with Yami Marik.

While the card is a normal monster in the show, the real-life version of the card negates any battle damage that is taken in battles involving this monster.
