With a variety of skilled duelists in Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s, there’s one to represent each of the 12 zodiac signs.

Yu-Gi-Oh! has definitely gone experimental since the original series, but the biggest leap came in the form of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s. Set in the future, 5D’s sees a world still dominated by the ever-evolving Duel Monsters game and the many interesting characters that play it.

For those who feel as though they can relate with a character from this anime spin-off, that could be in part due to their zodiac sign. The twelve astrological signs of the zodiac often categorize the personalities of many under a specific sign, and they’re all varied with their own strengths and weaknesses, just like the many characters of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s.

12 LEO: Lazar

Lazar was one of Rex Goodwin’s top subordinates and may look like just a clown, but he’s rather arrogant and a little sadistic too. Though underneath his worst qualities, he does have the capacity for kindness as shown by his devotion to his family.

With that in mind, Lazar relates most closely to the Leo sign, given his mix of humorous and egotistical traits. Leos are also known for their love of theater and bright and flashy colors, which, given his circus background, isn’t much of a stretch for Lazar.

11 LIBRA: Greiger

Those under the Libra sign are known to be easy to work with and very diplomatic. While Libras don’t like violence or confrontation, they will carry a grudge if push comes to shove. All aspects that describe the strong and stoic duelist, Greiger quite well.

After his village was destroyed in an experiment that killed his family, Greiger has held onto his hatred for a despicable villain like Rex for quite some time and tried to kill him too, which led to him becoming a Dark Signer. Eventually freed from this, Greiger would go on to show his wisdom, which would go on to push Jack Atlas as a duelist.

10 TAURUS: Sherry

French duelist, Sherry LeBlanc may have been born into a wealthy family, but that doesn’t mean her life has been easy. After Iliaster kills her parents, Sherry becomes solely focused on avenging them. While this made her somewhat violent in the pursuit of this goal, she remained practical, qualities fitting the Taurus sign.

Taurus’ are known for being stubborn, but can also be reliable where it counts. Sherry’s alliances may have shifted in the pursuit of vengeance and the possibility of her family being revived, but in the end, she was a valuable ally to Team 5D’s.

9 CAPRICORN: Trudge

At first glance, Officer Tetsu Trudge is a harsh and arrogant policeman who discriminates against the impoverished people of Satelite, but underneath he is disciplined and has a strong sense of duty. He may be aggressive, but these other qualities are what made the strict officer put aside his grudge against Yusei and became one of his allies.

With this in mind, Trudge’s attitude resembles the qualities of Capricorn. They can be responsible and focused on growth professionally and personally, but also condescending enough to see the worst in others rather quickly.

8 SCORPIO: Kalin

Once the leader of a gang Yusei, Crow, and Jack was a part of, Kalin Kessler was a kind guy who slowly became paranoid and untrusting of others once he and his gang started to control Satelite. As such he became violent towards others and held a particular grudge against Yusei after his capture. It wasn’t until his return as a Dark Signer and his eventual rebirth that he saw the error of his ways.

Kalin most closely resembles that of the Scorpio sign, since they’re known for being passionate and have leadership qualities, but also have a hard time trusting others. But those willing to stick by the Scorpio sign find that they can be an irreplaceable friend, much like Kalin and his difficult path to redemption.

7 CANCER: Carly

The sign of Cancer is known to have the qualities of loyalty, tenacity, and emotional, but can sometimes come off as insecure. They tend to be sensitive and can be quite caring individuals that are will to help their loved ones out with anything. These are all traits that resemble the clumsy, but kind Carly Carmine.

Carly became a reporter out of a desire to have people’s achievements given the respect they deserve and has had strong feelings towards Jack, even when she temporarily became a Dark Signer. While she can come off as clingy at times, Carly’s true strength is her loyalty to her loved ones (especially Jack).

6 SAGITTARIUS: Leo

Energetic and fun-loving, Leo is the livelier half of Team 5D’s twin siblings. Though he can be immature and impatient, Leo’s able to get serious when the situation demands it and will try and protect his friends and sister. Those are all the qualities that put Leo most closely to the Sagittarius sign.

While Leo may act a little too sure of himself at times, his heart is always in the right place. Having a free spirit, a kind demeanor, and a good sense of humor, Sagittarius seems like the perfect fit for an extrovert like Leo.

5 GEMINI: Luna

The Gemini sign seems perfect for someone like Luna (who is the other half of a pair of twins) for more reasons than one. While her brother, Leo, is more energetic and carefree, Luna is more thoughtful and polite. She’s also quite intelligent for her age too, which has helped her through some duels.

Geminis share these kind and gentle qualities along with the ability to adapt to new situations quickly, something Luna has been able to prove capable of. She is definitely an essential member of Team 5D’s and one of the most compassionate too.

4 VIRGO: Crow

Crow Hogan has been one of Yusei’s friends for quite some time and has definitely taken Yusei’s brave and heroic qualities as an example. Loyal to his friends and helping others where he feels he’s needed, he’s also kind and generous to a fault.

A hardworking altruist like Crow would fit in quite well as a Virgo. Virgos tend to have a deep sense of humanity and may have a habit of worrying, but balance that out by having their actions speak louder than their words, much like Crow and his impulsive nature to help others.

3 PISCES: Akiza

Originally Akiza Izinski was emotionally distant and cold towards others and herself, but after joining Yusei and the others she began to become more compassionate and warm. While her past would come back to haunt her, Akiza would stand tall, valuing the friends she made and protecting others from going through what she did.

Given Akiza’s intuitive but kind nature, it only makes sense that she could be considered being in the Pisces category. While she didn’t start out this way, Akiza became very heroic and selfless over time, all the right qualities of a Pisces.

2 ARIES: Jack

Jack Atlas started off as one of the most arrogant duelists since the days of Seto Kaiba. Though unlike Kaiba, Jack is more emotional and overtime shows a more caring side that the former wasn’t really capable of. That being said, “the King” is prone to short-fused and aggressive behavior, and he’s not afraid to vent his anger.

Jack would most likely fall into the Aries sign, given their similar aspects. Aries are also known for their courage and determination, things that one can definitely see in Jack on and off the track of a Turbo Duel.

1 AQUARIUS: Yusei

The Aquarius sign’s best aspects are that of independence, selflessness, and always able to push forward. They’re often known to listen well and help others however they can, often fighting for a good cause. All traits that resemble a hero and the main protagonist of 5D’s, Yusei Fudo.

While he can appear distant and constantly serious, Yusei keeps a level head even in the worst of times. He values his friends above all other things, never willing to put them in harm’s way. That sounds like a perfect fit as the hero of this story and an Aquarius.
