The world of Star Wars is special in many ways, one of which being the visuals. Not only did the galaxy far, far away influence the design of alien planets, but it’s had a big impact on how clothes can be imagined, combining inspiration from various time periods and cultures to create something altogether unique.
Characters who aren’t confined to Jedi robes or stormtrooper armor often bring all manner of interesting pieces together. From capes to body armor, here are some of the best-dressed characters in Star Wars.
10 Moff Gideon
Moff Gideon has only worn one outfit in all of his appearances on The Mandalorian, but it sticks out among many more uniform “bad guy” outfits in the saga.
What’s become his signature black cape and torso body armor has a cool flair, especially when he’s backed by troopers in all-black armor. A cape always adds a sense of drama, which Gideon certainly has a flair for.
9 Din Djarin
Din’s first Mandalorian armor was pretty busted up, but the new armor he had forged was a significant improvement. The beskar he’s seen wearing throughout season two is quite possibly the best-looking Mandalorian armor Star Wars has showcased.
It fits well, it’s shiny yet simple, and clearly effective (which is why everyone in the series is always trying to get their hands on it).
8 Orson Krennic
Orson Krennic brought a unique style to his villain attire, opting for an all-white look as opposed to the darker shades most villains wear. From the first scene in Rogue One, the striking image of Krennic, backed by troopers in a V formation, drew attention to his crisp white outfit, complete with a classic villain cape.
His character is someone who cares a lot about appearances, so this outfit is perfect for him in many ways, always making him the bright center of attention.
7 Kylo Ren
Kylo Ren is definitely the most stylish bad guy. In The Force Awakens, he sports a helmet that covers a head of perfectly styled hair and some very subtle eyeliner. Covering this helmet was a hood attached to a cowl, which covered a princely ensemble of robes that seemed to almost glitter.
In The Last Jedi, he opts for an ensemble that allows freer movement, sticking with a simple but striking black cape.
6 Rey
Rey’s style has a simple elegance to it. Her first look in The Force Awakens was both practical and ethereal, with flowing tan garments that helped her blend into the surrounding desert.
After joining the Resistance, she has an outfit change that is sleek and stylish and still incorporates her signature arm wraps. Her final outfit, the one she wears to see her space crush, is looser, with darker tones to reflect her journey. She completes this look by finally letting her hair down, signifying her willingness to let go of the past.
5 Ahsoka Tano
Ahsoka Tano makes the list because she took fashion risks outside of the white and brown Jedi robes, most of which paid off. She first made a big step up from the strange bandeau choice she always wore in the first season of The Clone Wars when she debuted what I’ll call her cutout look, which evolved over the years but the style of which defined her fashion sense for the rest of the saga.
Another great look was the jumpsuit she wore early on in season seven of The Clone Wars before she changed into an equally good outfit suited for battle against Maul and his forces on Mandalore. When fans catch up with her in The Mandalorian, she’s wearing a looser, darker-colored version of her old outfit, allowing her to blend in easily with the dark forest she’s been living in. One thing that has remained consistent throughout every series she’s been in has been her penchant for hooded capes, a staple in the series that she works well.
4 Qi’ra
Qi’ra served many looks in only one movie. When Han first catches up with her, she’s wearing a gorgeous space version of a gown for a cocktail party. She later changes into an outfit better suited for her mission with Han, complete with a cute white jacket and flared pants.
The costuming for Qi’ra has a more modern, real-world feel to it than many other Star Wars characters’ wardrobes, with pieces that one might expect to see on a well-dressed person in real life.
3 Leia Organa
Leia’s iconic looks began from the moment fans saw her onscreen in A New Hope. The space buns and the all-white dress was a look many had never seen or imagined before and has since inspired countless Halloween costumes and cosplayers.
White was her color until her romance with Han and arrival in Cloud City led to some softer, warmer tones. Her look was simple and practical in The Force Awakens, but she sported regal robes in The Last Jedi, with darker colors that suggested observation of mourning.
2 Lando Calrissian
Lando Calrissian is definitely the most fashionable man in the galaxy. From the first time he appeared onscreen in The Empire Strikes Back, his style made an impression on audiences and told them everything they needed to know about his character.
His sleek pants, crisp cape, and perfectly styled hair (along with an absolutely killer mustache), spoke to his care for his appearance, and his love of luxury. Since his debut, he’s hardly ever been seen without a cape.
1 Padmé Amidala
Padmé tops this list without question. Not only has she had the most outfit changes of any of these characters, but each look is always gorgeous. During her time as queen, she opted for ornate, regal looks, complete with elaborate headpieces and heavy gowns.
As a senator, her style evolved but was no less regal. Her personal style was more relaxed, but still incredibly fashionable. Even in battle, Padmé found time to look good. Her style marked a distinction for the prequel trilogy, with a change in favor of more romantic, refined visuals.
